I went out on Saturday. I bought a handkerchief with a pink poodle design, a small 1940s tin doll swing that I set on my outdoor flower cart, 2 summer bags, a candle holder done in a flag design, a child size set of cast iron cookware made by the Grey Iron Casting Co. in Mount Joy, Pa., a Knickerbocker toy boat, and a really neat old flag item.

The old item is a cloth flag design. It has broad stripes and 3 stars across. I was told it was hung in the window of a family to show how many loved ones were serving in the military during WWII. At least I believe she said WWII. I need to do a little research on it.

All in all a fine day of garage/yard sales.

All i found was 3 dowels cut down into firecracker size,painted red/white/blue and stenciled with gold stars,and a box of sea sponges,that i'll use for some of my painting.Spent a whopping 1.50 cents.

The sales weren't that interesting ,so i went to Lowes and bought more flowers instead.LOL

We went to our HOA sale Friday. I got a nice toaster oven that bakes and continuously cleans for $5, a Pampered Chef (new) tart maker (I guess that's what you'd call it). It cuts out bread or pastry and then crimps the edges. It was $1 Also a potato peeler (.50) and two new tubes of Clinique fake-tan stuff (1.00).

Real happy with the toaster oven. Been thinking about getting one.

I got a poker chip holder with chips and a long reach stapler, never used, for DS family and a table runner for me that's black with dark muted floral design. It looks old and maybe from another country.

No garage sales. I went to a thrift store the other day. I found a couple of National Geograpics I thought my 8 yo would like. I also bought him a pair of the football uniform bottoms to wear with the medieval king costume I'm making for him for school. I also found a couple of kiddie books I thought the other two kids would like.

No sales up here yet!
There are 2 in the paper this week. Both are Thursday I think. One is 11 miles away and I won't drive to that.
Ask me again the end of the week, I may find something.

Hmmm...let's see: I bought a neat old white Samsonite suitcase for $2.00, a unique looking two tiered mirror and glass topped 50's table (gave $35 for that one), a beige Fireking plate for a quarter and two wooden rulers for 25 cents each. LOL

Took my DSIL with me and she bought a matted and framed map of the world, a coffeemaker for her son and a wooden picture frame. We had a good time.

Friend and I went on Friday and I bought a black and white checked warm throw for $3.00 and three wooden rulers for ten cents a piece.

Sales just starting here--guess our winter is not quite gone yet.

I went to a couple last week. One was nothing but junk (a charity sale that had been picked over by the volunteers). The other had very little that I could use...but I did buy a few things.

I really need to have my own yard sale and quit going to other peoples. I'm kind of addicted though.

I found a food processor for $3.

I bought a shower curtain and an iron for $2.00 total.

I had a good weekend. I bought some room dividers. They are two pieces, hinged together...two sets...for a total of $6. Solid wood on bottom, spindles on the top half.

A Spode cake plate, Blue Willow, $4.

New Farberware electric wok...$8.

Some neat old kitchen utensils...chopper/shredder combo, ice cream scoop, spoon that is bottle opener on other end...souvenir of New Orleans, egg beater,...quarter each.

Very old, cool, butterfly pin...fifty cents.

Angel statue for my pet cemetary...fifty cents.

Doll sized metal ice cream shop table and two chairs...$4.

Marcrest and pyrex bowl...fifty cents each.

Oval, covered pyrex casserole dish...75 cents.

And more that I can't think of right now, including two plant sales where I got several brugmansias, crepe myrtle, oak, morning glory bush, daylily, jatropha, etc., etc., etc.

Kim, yes those flags were from WWII. I remember my folks had one with 2 stars for my DB and BIL.

Marilyn, you find the bestest things. lol.

Haven't seen but a couple of sales advertised but didn't sound good enough to use the gas to go to them. I have to drive quite a ways to go to a good one.

Lydia, hope those volunteers at the charity sale 'purchased' rather than 'purloined' their items. If they didn't their sale probably didn't make much.

Went to the GoodWill in my area & picked up (yet another) Barbie doll for my almost 3 year old granddaughter...you can never have enough Barbies at that age...LOL

No luck finding anything for my 1 yr old granddaughter....she loves anything that plays music & goes blinky-blinky....maybe next visit!

Marilyn...I have a doll size ice cream set..the chairs are about 12 inches high , black wrought iron and wooden seats.

My great grandson found one and kept trying to sit on it...

I bought a windchime harp. Kind of neat. And an old picture of two dogs.

DH and I garage sale on Saturdays and then hit the half price estate sales on Sunday after church. I got a McCoy vase for $1 and a couple of pins for .50. My favorite "find" was an armillary for our flower garden. It is a great big one and we put it on stacked concrete squares. It looks really pretty. The flower bed is a mixture of red peri-winkles and dusty miller.
Ya-ya I got a wooden one of those rulers that is triangular, for a dime!! It is great because when I am drawing a line on fabric, I can hold it by the top "fin" and just slide it along with the pencil right behind it!!
