I hear you. Kind of depressing isn't it? When we do go somewhere it's always in his Honda - not my Explorer.
My grass looks like crap. I see my neioghbors with acres of grass mowing constantly but mine waits until I can't stand it any more. It's almost there.
I am cutting back on yard sales too - looking more at local ones and not going to the ones on the other end of town.

we did that on Monday...hadn't done it in years...drove to the country...stopped at a friends house...(that's when the goose ran into our car)...both of us commented that with the price of gas, we must be crazy for doing it...

the ones I feel bad for around here are the ones who have a 45 to one hour commute to work and there are lots of them...One couple shown on the news are spending SEVEN HUNDRED dollars a month for gas...the women said it was more then their mortgage payment...some are having to give up their jobs cause they can't afford to drive to work...

It's awful and I sure hope something is done about it soon...

I'm so glad I retired from my job, I was commuting 90 miles a day round trip. Main Man and I were just talking about this last night.

We feel like we need to park our Motorhome at the Lake and leave it since it has such a bad gas mileage. Drive our car which gets much better gas mileage. We boat with groups of people, some have Pontoon Boats. So we can share in the cost of gasoline having room for 12-16 people per boat.

Not yet just because the only places we go are work, church and to the grocery store, but we might have to change our vacation plans for this fall if gas prices continue to rise.

Our DIL came by Saturday afternoon and was inside the house for about 15 minutes when she said something about her sister waiting on her in the car. I said well my goodness, she could have come inside, so we walk out and the car had been running the entire time. The first thing I thought of was all that wasted gas.

I went on a countryside drive, all by my lonesome, Sunday. Most enjoyable!

I miss those days. When i was young we always use to fill the tank up and pack a picnic. We would drive everywhere. Sometimes we never really had a destination. However we also havent done that in years. I really do miss it.

I miss those trips, also...Every week, I'd call my DD and say, Dad and I will be gone for the day, and we'd get in the car and go...Often we'd drive to another state just to have lunch...We had the best of time but sure can't do it these days...Now when we get in the car, we plan to do all our errands at the same time....Miss the good old cheap gas times....

We have only 1 car. DH and I drive to work together. I drop him off at his office and continue on to mine, then I pick him up just after 4 p.m. We are lucky to work the same hours and relatively close by to each other. There are times when I wish we had 2 cars but with the price of insurance and gas now it really does let us enjoy alot of other extras we'd have to give up with a second car in the driveway. I just can't see spending all that money to have a second car sit in a parking lot 44 hours a week. And on weekends we're usually together anyway. So we do what we want most of the time. Alot of our friends live out of town and while I hate it, the gas prices haven't really interferred with any of our plans. Yet!
