Good thoughts and prayers please.

My cousins wife has a sister Cherlyn who a few years ago was diagnosed with Cancer. She has been in remission for three years. She has to go in every three months for cat scans and blood work.

She has been feeling fine. But this time when getting her blood work her numbers were low. The Cat scan didn't show anything. Her doctor decided to check the bone marrow (can't think what they call that) Anyway they now find she has lukemia. She will be in hospital for a month, using Chemo to (I believe kill all her white cells) I don't know much about all this but I do know she's in for a real fight. She warned her sister that when she comes today that she has lots and lots of brusing...and not to cry because it doesn't hurt. It just looks awful.

The nurses told her she would probably be confined to bed after tomorrow.

She asked her sister to ask me, if I would make her a round long pillow for her to put under her knees. I've made her neck pillows like that with little pillowcases. That's what she wants only bigger.

She really needs some prayers or whatever you might have to offer.

If anyone wanted to they could send her a card with encouraging thoughts. You can send them to me if you want to do so .I'll make sure she gets them.

I can't imagine being in the hospital for a month! I hope the treatment will take care of the problem. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Good thoughts and prayers going her way. My best friend was just diagnosed with bone marrow cancer as well.

Dearest Lynne, I too lost my Sister to ALS. It is a horrible thing to witness I know. When I say "I feel your pain" I truely do. She was my mentor, my confidant, and also best friend. She was young too just 46 when she was finally released from the bondage of a nonfunctioning body. We last communicated with her only being able to blink her eyes. I think of her daily though she has been gone for nearly 18 years. She is in my heart and my thoughts and my prayers. There is little that I can say to comfort you as I am the worst with knowing just the right thing to say. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers and find comfort in the happy memories of better days with her and knowing that she is not suffering. Around here, the (smallish) "Driver's Handbook" used to cost about $15.00 ... ... but you can borrow one from the library for three weeks - for free! We have to take a consultation with about a dozen others and written text questions and sign recognition questions every two years after age 80. Good wishes for successful completion of your test(s), Bengardening. (One learns something new every day - I didn't know that moths had periods). ole joyful

Update. My cousin is out of intensive care and in a regular room as of a few days ago. He hasn't talked yet, is on feeding tube. He did motion for his sister to come over to him and he gave her a kiss. It sounds like this is going to be a long recover for him. My uncle lost his other son 9 years ago or more to a undiagnosed nerve degenerative disease. He didn't have regular insurance and was treated through the VA. I have heard of horrible things about the VA's care so I just don't think they gave him proper care. He was such a strong, vibrate, good looking man. It was really sad.

I'll do it Patti. Lots of prayers and good thoughts & wishes for her. I'll be sending a card to you for her. Poor thing will probably need some cheering up if she's to be there a month.

good thoughts for her. What a tough battle. Being in the hospital for a month is probably nothing compared to cancer but it still makes it all that much worse. I hope this treatment does the job.

My thoughts & prayers are with Cherlyn & your family. I have a former co-worker who is not expected to live much past April. She has skin cancer that is spreading rapidly.
