I love Nutella. Do you?

One of my favorite things to eat is Nutella. If you aren't familiar with it, Nutella is a chocolate/hazel-nut spread with the consitency of peanut butter. I put it on toast, bagels, muffins, french toast, or just eat plain.

Do any of you like it? How do you use it?

I've never tried it but I'm not wild about hazelnuts.

Gosh, I want to thank all of you who have contributed recipes and ideas for using Nutella. I am looking forward to trying some of your recipes & suggestions but til then, I've been content with a little nip straight from the jar when I need a quick pick me up. I hope that those of you who try the Aldi brand are satisfied with the product. Also, I apologize for taking so long to get back to this thread and want you to know that I really appreciate each & every suggestion and, especially, the time you take out of your day to respond. (By way of explanation, we have been really busy back to work on our on again/ off again DIY kitchen remodel. Doing all the work ourselves including bldg. the cabinets, the old pay as you go shoestring budget approach to remodel.)

It's no secret I love chocolate. But, Nutella doesn't taste like chocolate. At least, not good chocolate. To me, this product tastes cheap and highly processed, which it probably is. Still, if I were on a deserted island... However, when I brought home a jar of Nutella (about 2 years ago) Thumper went crazy over it. Once the boy picked up its scent, the entire jar had disappeared. Practicing quality control, I suppose. We all know moderation is key to healthy nutrition, and while this product may not be the worst thing to unleash onto your kids, try to tell them to use moderation. A similar product here in Spain is Nocilla and according to Wikipedia it sells better here than Nutella. My girls used to have it on bread when they were small. Some folks here spread it on crepes. It was sold in a reusable drinking glass. Here is an old advert: Here is a list of Nocilla ingredients: Sugar, palm oil, sunflower oil, reduced fat cocoa, skimmed milk, hazelnuts, whey powder, soy lecithin: An Emulsifier, Artificial flavors. Serving size 2 tsp ( 37g). Servings per container 9. Calories 200, Fat calories 110, Total fat 12g (19%), Saturated fat 4g (22%), Trans fat 0%, Cholesterol 0mg ( 0%), Sodium 0%, Total carbohydrate 20g ( 6%), dietary fiber (4%), Sugars 20g, protein 2g. Vitamin A and C 0%, Calcium 4%, Iron 4%. * Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. We first had it in Germany, and I recall saying Nuh - tella, which is how I say it now. For some reason, New - tella sounds funny to me :) But it certainly doesn't taste funny! I just bought a 2-pack from Costco, and made chocolate croissants that my friend told me to try. I used Pillsbury crescent rolls, spread Nutella on them, rolled them up and baked them. Since I'm on a diet, I didn't taste them, but my kids and their friends gave them 2 thumbs up, and they smelled delicious!

I've tried it.....I once asked a girl how she lost soooooooooooo much weight. She said she stopped eating nutella. She said she could eat a whole jar at one time. Interesting....

Walmart has some really good almond-flavored cookies that make a fantastic sandwich cookie when you spread Nutella between them. Voortman has a good almond cookie, too.

Now I want Nutella (and have a jar in the pantry).

cmama, I just Googled "nutella recipes" and the first one that came up was recipes from Nutella Day. Just thought I'd let you know--now I have to go back and read the nutella brownie and banana nutella muffin recipes. Yahoo!

I've heard of making French toast with Nutella. Must try it-it's one of DHs favorite breakfasts.

Love it straight from the jar,on toast,and even on ice cream.Good thing i don't have any right now,cause i'd be heading for the kitchen.LOL

Yep, LOVE it. Grew up eating it. Used to haul it back here, to the US for my kids, before it became available here.

Now, I use it with peanut butter for a sandwich, or sometimes just eat with a spoon. :)

I've never tried it but want to.I just can't see dolling out almosr $4.00 for a jar though,especially if I won't like it.I do love hazelnuts and chocolate so I may just go ahead and splurge!LOL

Love hazelnut and chocolate - I eat it straight from the jaur with a spoon. The funny thing is is that I don't like it on toast or bread. I am also rather fond of the Bueno Chocolate Bar - again same flavours.

Our family enjoys it! Had it for breakfast on saltines. Sometimes we slather it on PB sandwiches. I'm not a chocolate fan at all but can take a bit of this stuff!! Good!

World Market had it on sale for $2.50 a jar. That was a while back. Shoulda bought it then.

I love Nutella, I even joined the Facebook group for it. LOL

I can't eat peanut butter so Nutella is what I use now. It is so good. It is expensive so I rarely buy it but since I had some extra money this weekend I bought the large jar and it was over $6.00 so I am going to savour it. I forgot it was in my cupboard until I read this post. Good thing I am not hungry right now or I would be into it.

The most decadent Nutella experience I had was when I warmed an apple cinnamon breakfast pita and then while it was still hot I put Nutella on it. Oh my gosh the Nutella melted and the pita was a warm gooey mess of goodness. I bought the apple cinnamon breakfast pitas at Costco and haven't seen them again which maybe is a good thing.

I think for breakfast I am going to make a wrap using a whole wheat tortilla, sliced banana and a spread of Nutella and then I am going to warm it in the microwave.

Thanks Cmama for reminding me I have Nutella in the cupboard.
