I'm so glad you found the perfect "one" for your room. Have you bought rods yet? I just made the rounds yesterday searching for some for my room. I think I've decided on some at saw at JoAnn Fabric, but I just need to figure what size I want to use.

I have not checked Joanns, forgot they even had rods but found a really reasonably priced rod at Lowes. They have two styles I like, one is large ball similar to something you'd see at Pottery Barn but with a touch of texture to it and the other is a squared one with a design on the sides. I have that one up in our master bedroom and really like the way it looks there but feel it may be to small scale wise. Both rods are in a dark chocolate ORB sort of finish.

LOL. I feel like we're following the same path. I actually found this one at Lowes that I liked, but it doesn't come in the longer length if I decide to use one long rod for my two windows.

I was looking at the skinnier rods. This one is 3/4" and the 1st one you posted is 1.25". I really liked the hammered look of your 1st one and it also reminded me of a PB rod, so I may have to go back and look at that again. I'm having trouble with Joann Fabrics website, so I'll show the one I was looking there as soon as it's working.

Laurie, we do have similar tastes and that's why I really appreciated your feedback in that other thread. We're going with the solid fabric on the sofa. :c) I like the rod you have shown too, it has a nice simple design and rich color to it.

At first in the store, I didn't like the Lowe's ball rod, thought it was ugly but once I got it home and saw how the texture on it gave it some interest, I was sold. I have been also looking at this rod from Bed Bath and Beyond. I'm not thrilled with the finials as much as I like the flexibility of the rod. If I can still work out a way to have daylight sheers sitting behind the Grommet drape, I'd love to have them and this rod may be the trick for it. I really want something with more sheer as an option and when not in use, it can sit tucked behind the grommet drape and no one would be the wiser. With the 20% coupons this rod is not too much more price wise.

Probably used to tight to the bracket. It's pretty too...is the scale of the ball and rod good for your room? That's another reason I like the textured ball rod. The ball is larger than the others I saw and the rod is 1 1/4 inches thick so scale wise it's more appropriate

For those of you that said the rods weren't long enough...Lowes has spacers to use on your decorator rod. I bought my rods from Penneys and the spacers from Lowes. In fact the clerk at Penneys took the spacers I bought and we tried them in the rod before I paid for them. You may have to get another bracket...the screw in kind, if your span is lengthly.

lukkiirish - I'm starting to get confused about what a good scale is. I like a more simplified look than what Iused to, but I don't want it to look skimpy.

grandmaof3 - So, you can take two shorter rods and put mtogether with a spacer to create a longer one? Just wanted to make sure I understood correctly.

Laurie, how big is your room? Our living room is long and narrow, 23 x 12 and the sliding door and window are at opposite ends of the room. We put a double rod up to test different drapes with and the thin rod & small sized finials, were so small they looked out of proportion in our room.

The larger sized rod is 1 1/4 inch and the larger round finial is about the size of a baseball. They give more presence over all and look like they'll be more proportionate for our room. My DH is putting them up as we speak, so tomorrow I can post a photo for you. Btw, I also brought home that adjustable rod from BB&B, it was junk and we opted not to go that route.

In regards to the extenders if I remember correctly your windows were smaller than ours which is 57 inches across. If you buy a rod meant for the size of your window you won't need to worry about extenders as everything you'll need should already be provided in box.

I'm not normally a Wal-Mart fan but I love their Canopy double rods. I have about 8 of them up. They're very substantial, which I needed with 9 ft ceilings, look great, and you can't beat the price.

I honestly tried rods from Lowe's, JCP, PB, Sears, JoAnn... and 2 Kichler rods, but I don't remember where they came from. Those Canopy ones were the best of the bunch IMO, and come in a good range of sizes. I was having a hard time finding rods that were long enough.

The only downside I've found is that the rod itself is not the same finish as the ball. I was wary of this when I tried them, but I never noticed (and still don't, even though I normally have the front layer of curtains peeled back showing the rod 24/7).

Yes, the rod extenders go between the shorter rods, making it longer. I have a picture window with an ordinary size window on both side. Couldn't find a rod to fit so used the extenders from Lowes with the rods from Penneys and they fit nicely. If you can find a rod long enough, no problem, you won't need the extenders.

Another vote for Walmart. I got some really nice rods that look more designer than Walmart for the low Walmart price.

I'm going to upgrade from some 1/2" looking rods to these from Walmart.

Avesmor! Laugh at Walmart? Nah..these days we have to find the deals where we can! I wish I had known. We tried some double rods from BB&B and the finials were too small. That's pretty much the problem I ran into with the double rods in general. I may be needing one for our kitchen window which is for a smaller room so I'll keep it in mind. For the living room, we ended up using rods from Lowes. As it turns out, I've not been thrilled with the quality of the rod and if I could get my DH to change them I would. He's pretty spent on the whole ordeal with the drapes though so at this point, I doubt it's an option. LOL

Hi Laurie, Yes we put them up last weekend but I've run into snags with length variations and still need to iron them. It's also been so dreery weather wise the lighting for a photo has been poor. We're supposed to have some sun this weekend, if so, I'll post pics ironed or not. :c)
