And another puppy nap

He didn't like trying to sleep in his little puppy carrier. It's the one he arrived in at the airport.

When he'd take his afternoon naps I took the opportunity to gather up all his toys and take "cute" photos. He liked being covered.

We bought the biggest kennel possible (the one in the other photos) hoping it would still fit when he grew up. It doesn't. It's okay to put him in for a few minutes, but he can't stretch out or hold his head up when in it so we don't use it for more than 15-30 minutes at a time.

This is just one of those situations where you have to be firm with her, for her own good. When we had both Tallulah and Mysti spayed (different occasions), they came home from the vet and by the next morning were raring to go. We kept them each penned for five full days, and they were only let out on leash. Had a bad experience many years ago with a cat that was spayed and we didn't restrict her ... which taught me that the animal REALLY DOESN'T KNOW BEST. LOL! You can use this for a very special 'bonding' period, if you keep her leashed to you rather than in a crate. Of course, you may need to take some kind of patience-enabling substance to get through the days!

Debbie, I have no knowledge of dog care. But having cared for multitudes of kittens AND panacur, I will throw in my few cents When I do panacur, I actually do it for 3 days straight, a dose a day. (the applicable dose for cats and kittens of course) With Pyrantel/Strongid, I usually do follow up in two weeks. However, I have had kittens that were so full of roundworms that the vet had me worm the kittens for three days straight, followed up a dewormer once a week for three weeks, and then one wormer 3 weeks after that. I think the one dose followed by another in X time is a standard for an average case. But in case of infestation, the situation might call for a different approach. I would ask if the vet would recommend worming on a more intensive schedule. Good luck. Your pups are adorable.

That is so sad. That poor thing manages to find her way back "home" and they kick her to the curb. Disgusting. I hope the neighbor can find a good home for her. I would certainly report them, not that it would do any good. They will probably say she ran away, never admitting they dumped her and no one can prove otherwise. One time at our shelter a man pulled up and kicked a dog out of his truck. One of our volunteers saw him do it and got the license #, but never saw the man's face. Since she couldn't identify him, they couldn't prosecute him. Unbelievable. Meanwhile, the dog spent all day avoiding capture, but never moving far from where the man dumped him, just waiting for him to come back I'm sure. I came out there that evening and heard the story and spotted him on my way out so I stopped and grabbed another person and we spent almost 2 hours luring him with treats before finally catching him. He turned out to be an absolutely wonderful dog who got adopted shortly after he was available. I have no idea how people can live with themselves after dumping totally helpless animals. I was surprised to see how small she was too. I agree with annz, she looks like a spaniel to me, not sure I see much Golden in her. " I realized as I crouched on the floor with her and rubbed her back while she got sick that on some level that I really do love her (finally). It's just a different love than before, but not in a bad way, if that makes sense." I had a similar situation with one of our dogs. We got her at about 3 yrs and for a long time I wondered if it was a mistake. Her behaviour was hmm, problematic in many ways which frustrated me. One day she had an allergic reaction and I realised just how worried I was for her, took her off to the after hours vet etc. The thing is, we do have different relationships with different pets. I've had really close relationships with about half the dogs I've ever owned, where they were like my baby and the bond was just so very strong. I didn't have this with all my dogs though, but I still loved them all very much and would do anything for them. Just my experience, but each of these relationships is different in it's own way but that doesn't mean something is wrong and it seems like you feel your bond with her should be just like it was with your pug girl, no I don't believe that. Treat each pet as an individual because each of them is a different dynamic.

Oh no, Murraysmom. Don't worry. I should have said in all three of my "napping" posts that these photos are all "baby pictures" of the original, very real and alive, now aged 11 years, Harry. Harry the Perfect and Sam the Not are happy, healthy, and full of vim and vinegar, or something-and-vinegar! LOL

I found a box of old Kodak photo discs that had all of Harry's puppy/baby photos from 2003. I wanted to share them.

TeddyBear - Harry, and Sam, are Deutsch Drahthaars, a German versatile hunting breed. Harry is great-uncle, x3, to Sam.

I'm so glad, Caroline. He was an adorable baby, but I'm glad he is still with you now.

My Carmelita changed a lot in looks since she was a baby. But she only went from 4 lbs. to 11 lbs.

Caroline, you always make me laugh the way you swoon over Harry and just "tolerate" Sam. Harry is wonderful, Sam, not so much.

I know, right, Jasdip? LOL LOL LOL She is so sweet and makes the funniest faces. And she is as stubborn as she is sweet. She has me very well trained. :)
