Weather here is just lovely. Slightly chilly, but bright and clear. We were up at the crack of dawn. Had loaded up the truck last evening. Took off for the country house, stopped along the way for breakfast. Unloaded the stuff when we got there. Then went to 2 banks down there to open checking accounts in preparation for our move (one for our direct deposits, the other where we'll actually be banking--I won't have both those things in the same bank, not after what happened to my aunt's account). Popped our heads in Harbor Freight, and meandered back home.

Now, we're back, and I'll probably spend the rest of the day cleaning, since DD has invited friends over Monday evening for a birthday party for the cat, who is going to be TWENTY on Monday!!!

Weather's great here in So Calif as well. I have a "toad trek" hike planned for this evening (near full moon). We are going out looking for toads. :-) Another hike set for Sunday that starts with Easter morning breakfast with a fire station in the hills followed by a nice day on the trail.

It's so odd to see you write about Amber and Mike. That's the name of my two kids. :-)

I've been making my mashed potatoes with sour cream and cream cheese and turnip puff for Easter dinner tomorrow. I have to make my Asian coleslaw yet.

I'm going to make meatloaf and have the rest of the scalloped potatoes for dinner. I'm going to make up a small plate to give to my elderly neighbour who lives upstairs.

I was going to make some bread, but I might save that for Sunday.

I'm cleaning house today, put leather cleaner/conditioner on the leather chair too. It looks nice. That was a workout, lots of rubbing. Good for the chair & good for me. Next I'm going to take a bag to Goodwill and run a few errands.

Sue, I just came on here to put out an SOS for you. You must have been really busy with the garden, but I missed you.

I've been finishing up cleaning and started prepping food for my DSis and DBIL's visit for the weekend. Have to make a quick (I sure hope) run to the grocery later.

It's just a gorgeous day today. A cold front is coming through and our temps (which have been summer-like) are going to be in the low 80's or high 70's for this coming week.

Thanks for thinking of me Patti, no I have not been working in the garden. I have been having a lot of back and sciatica pain, so have to rest from time to time.

Jas--thanks for the birthday wishes on Lexi's behalf. As to stuff being open? DH is off today--he works for the utility company. DD is working--she's an optician in a eye dr's office. Banks are open. Pretty much all stores--with the exception of the Amish markets--are open. We got mail today, too.

I took a DVD called "Days of The One Room Schoolhouse" to a local nursing home to share with the residents as one of their activities for this week. Had lunch first with a friend who resides there and had a long visit. Everyone seemed to enjoy the documentary even tho several fell asleep. ;)

On the way there I happened to look down and see the "Check Engine" light was on. Oh crap. I was hoping I'd at least make it to the home and then when I came back out the car would start. It did start but the light was still on so I drove it on into the dealership where I know the hourly rate of service is high but. Anyhow, a young guy got in the car with a diagnostic tool and hooked that up to my car's computer under the steering wheel (who knew?) and then asked if I had recently gotten gas. I had. He said the car's computer was showing the code for "Loose gas tank cap". He checked it, tightened it, and the light went off. Plus there was no charge - what a relief. Esp. about the no charge, that doesn't happen very much now days.

Came home, made a cup of coffee and then went out and finished mowing parts of the yard I didn't get to yesterday. Now I can relax.

I babysat the grandsons last week while their parents and other grandparents took a trip to Napa for SIL's birthday. The boys had colds, and now grandma has the cold. Bad enough congestion at this point to make sleeping difficult, but I am taking lots of vitamin C. Should have been taking it all last week too!!

Heading out for the last grocery run for the Easter weekend cooking. I need the fresh fruits and vegetables, plus other things I realized I had forgotten. Then I want to get the tablecloth ironed and on the table today.

I just got back from my apartment with the next to last items from there. Now, I plan to go out and plant something... yesterday I ended up only weeding.

Not sure yet what/where... but I'll figure it out.

Not sure that I want to share my latest 'booboo', more like 'boohoo' tho. Last week I left water running in the kitchen and flooded kitchen, dining and family rooms as well as some of the entry way. Such a mess. Sooooo, we have had a week of moping, then renovation folks in to blow and suck and whatever the floors and carpets dry. Lucky...not the walls. The noise from the fans and dehumidifiers was unreal for 3 days 24/7...while furniture and carpet pulled up and padding removed. Wood floor in kitchen is warped...but it is wood, so it can be sanded I think. Did I say a MESS? The company did a good job drying stuff out, and we are almost put back together again...I was already sort of in a mess getting ready for a yard sale....now Easter (staying home) and more yard sale prep. Life is good! (DH did not threaten to kill me...he was a trooper and worked like a crazy man with the cleanup.)

Been working. Volunteered for overtime on Tuesday. We'll soon be down to 3 full time RNs on dayshift. Another one got a job at another facility. They have 7 coming but they won't be here for a month or more. They still have to go through orientation and then we have to orient them...don't know who is going to orient them since there aren't many of us left.

Came home to a big mess. Sola let Chewie out of his crate and left him out to roam the house alone. I've told her and Lauren over and over not to do that. He chewed up a box, some papers and my new shoes that he drug out of a closet. I am still mad.

I purchased a new trellis for a rose and clematis to share. Brought it home only to find that the rose is already taller that the trellis. :0) Dh welded a bottom extension onto it for me & viola! It's gonna work!
