Chrome faucet OK with brushed SS counter?

I am very sensitive when it comes to mismatched stuff but this one does not bother me for some reason.

I am not sure if the counter will be SS but the sink definitely will be. I have three brushed SS faucets in the house and I find them harder to keep spotless than the chrome ones. So, I am wondering if it would be OK to get a chrome faucet for my prep sink which will be quite visible.

If it doesn't bother you then do it! Who is to say what is "ok" or not. Its your kitchen, the opinion of random strangers on the internet should not be the guide by which you design your kitchen.

LOL.

Well, I have learned a lot from those "random strangers", so I come here for a "reality check". Plus, I like many different things and I am often OK going either way.

Hearing people's opinions (sometimes) helps me find additional options or figure out that I like one more than the other(s).

And then there is that "proverbial" re-sale value...

I always had a chrome faucet with a stainless steel sink, mainly because that's the way the house came. Our countertop is coming in tomorrow so we needed to buy a faucet quickly. We decided to go with a stainless faucet to match the sink and the stainless appliances that are supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. Also, there is nothing shiny in our kitchen, so we thought the SS would work better than chrome. The only worry we had was with the finish of the faucets. Some of the stainless ones seemed to have a bronze tint to them in the stores where we looked. Below is a link to a question I asked about that. Thanks, everyone. Now can anyone recommend a place to buy a chrome soap dispenser? (modern looking). A quick google search led to an acceptable one for .....65 dollars!!! Why are these so expensive?? Mustbnuts, color suggestions for backsplash please? I am thinking light gray or a zen green. Helou, yes, KA Dishdrawer. It is properly installed (and pushed back) now. And we have been using it up a storm. I like it for the convenience. MY dh finds that it doesn't have much room - we keep things separate because we keep kosher, so we have to load the meat dishes in one, the dairy dishes in the other. That is the reason we bought it. But if you can have more fleixiblity, you will definitely have enough room to put large loads. ONe caveat: It is EXTREMELY difficult to install. Our plumber couldn't do it, the first installation team for ABT couldnt do it, we had to get the elite custom kitchen team from ABT to come out. I would only recommend buying it IF you have an installer who has installed it before! thanks for all the help, people. As I type this I'm pretty sure 10 folks will chime in and say\show they did it and it looks great (trust them not me as I'm going by my reaction not anything concrete). I think mixing finishes is not a problem and will look great ( I have seen many examples and plan to do it in my own remodel) but I'm not sure I would want to have a single chrome element and none anywhere else. Again that's not based on having actually seen it but is just a gut reaction. If you match the filter and the faucet it could be good and just pull in a chrome accessory or two.

for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. I'm just saying be confident in yourself. If you like it then do it, you're the one using the kitchen. There are really no rules when it comes to kitchen design, its about what works for the person who is using the kitchen.

As for resale value, I can pretty much guarantee that no faucet is going to make or break a sale. I'd think than 99% of buyers won't even notice it.

I'm an Interior Designer & General Contractor and most of my clients use stainless steel sinks and appliances. Generally, the faucets match the doorknobs, window fittings and that sort of thing. You might think of stainless steel as a neutral backdrop, and then use chrome or oil rubbed bronze or polished nickel or brushed nickel or whatever harmonizes with the house and makes you happy. Lots of 1920's homes have stainless sinks and chrome faucets, for example.

I did it twice and sold them just fine. (Brushed stainless counters and sinks with chrome fixtures.) I like chrome a lot. :)

Realism, if you're going to insult the forum, why are you on it?

eleena, SS and chrome are not identical, but remember chromium is one of the things added to steel to make it stainless. So the tones do relate. Plus, a chrome faucet unrelated to other metals in the room was the standard for kitchens for a long long time. And that's from when chrome was a lot bluer than it usually is today.

So go for it.

I think it's fine aesthetically, but if the main reason is the spotlessness, I can vouch that the Moen Classic Stainless finish is relatively spot free. I have brushed nickel in the upstairs BR and chrome in the PR, and both those faucets show spots, a lot. My kitchen faucet really doesn't.
