So I've been testing cocktail recipes again........

I'm having my kids over on Saturday, and once again thought it would be fun to come up with a new cocktail. So I've been making half-versions of recipes from the Internet and having one most evenings. (It's a tough job, I know, but somebody's got to do it.) ;-)

I must be a tough critic, because I've ended up with quite a few rejects. I like this one, though:

Bikini Martini (from Yummly.com)

1 oz. coconut rum

3/4 oz. vodka

1 oz. pineapple juice

1 dash grenadine syrup

Combine rum, vodka and pineapple juice in a drink shaker. Shake firmly until frothy. Pour into a martini glass, and add a touch of grenadine in the middle (it will sink). Garnish with an orange wheel.

And this one would be fun for summer:

Creamalada (tastes like a Creamsicle)

2 oz. vanilla vodka

Ginger Ale

1 splash orange juice

Shake and serve over ice. OR blend ingredients with ice until smooth.

More specific directions:

Fill a rocks glass with ice. Combine the vodka and orange juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Carefully strain into the glass. Fill the glass with ginger ale and enjoy!

(I think it might be interesting to blend the ingredients with ice.)
