I've noticed her abscence, also.
A little too quiet. (Kind of like that uneasy feeling you get with a house full of kids and all at once you realize it's been too quiet for too long.)

My theory is that Rita won the lottery and took off for Fiji, where there's no ice and no tornados (just a volcano or two). She is, as we speak, stretched out on one of those lounge chairs embedded at the edge of the water, tiny waves lapping at her toes, surrounded by an eager-to-please, smiling wait staff. Exotic, colorful birds sing in the palm trees nearby.

Rita takes a sip of her mango martini and leans back, closing her eyes in tropical bliss. But wait! What is that noise? It's not a bird. It's not native music. It's not the sound of the surf. It's her cell phone! The Cowboy Church is calling to see if she finished doing this month's bookkeeping.

Seriously, I've missed my KT friends, but I've been swamped with work. I'm also nursing a teeny little cold that I plan to pass off to some unsuspecting family member this afternoon at a funeral. Lots going on here and not enough hours in the day. I hope someone continued the GRATITUDE thread in my absence. WHAT? No takers? Gee, I didn't leave much of a legacy, did I? :)

PS: Thanks for the heads up about this thread, alisande. Now I gotta get back to Alaska...I'm knee-deep in editing a huge document for Alaska Department of Fish and Game about one of their wildlife refuges.

I have a difficult time picturing Rita with a mango martini. In my mind she's more of a cold beer and chips & salsa person. The Cowboy church calls .....wondering what happened to last weeks deposit!!!

Truth is, "Alaska" is the code word for "massage." Juan saw me type that on my laptop, and he dashed off to the cabana to retrieve his coconut oil. :)

He isn't normally so attentive to what turns out to a beached whale plopped in a chaise lounge at low tide, but with those lottery winnings... well, trust me on this: money CAN buy happiness!
