What Do You Like On Your Toast?

I think what I like best is a bacon, lettuce and tomato on my toast, with mayo or Miracle Whip. What do you like on yours?

JAM... raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, marmalade...
any kind of jam. no butter, just jam!

Butter, and lots of it, is what I like. What I actually use is a lot less than I prefer! Love cinamon sugar, too.

No problem Terri. LOL! Here is what I would do. Home Cookin Chapter: Recipes From Thibeault's Table ============================= Long loaf of Italian Bread or long crusty rolls. 1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup gorgonzola cheese 1 to 2 cloves garlic parsley salt pepper fresh grated parmesan cheese Optional: Basil or Oregano . Cream the butter with the gorgonzola cheese. Mince garlic and add to cheese mixture. Add chopped parsley, and season with salt and pepper. If using the basil or the oregano add now as well. Leave loaf whole, but cut slices so that the loaf stays together. Spread cheese mixture in between each slice and reshape loaf. Sprinkle top of loaf with parmesan cheese and wrap in foil. Place in 400Â°F oven for 10 or 15 minutes and serve hot.

What do you like in your salad?

We eat lots of salads. About half the time it is the main course. It's a "build your own" affair, with all of the veggies in separate bowls, sort of buffet style. DH sometimes grills meat to cut into the salad. Other times he cooks ground turkey, chicken, or beef with a package of taco seasoning mix and tops with cheese. After building our salad, a huge scoop of this goes on top. Then my choice of fat-free dressing (they're a lot tastier than they were in the old days). I can eat a HUGE bowl of this and still lose weight. I like a bowl bigger than my salad so I can mix everything up. He calls it my "Jethro" bowl, LOL.

Regarding the wider drawers and 1 pull vs. 2 - I personally don’t like 2 pulls on a drawer, because people tend to pull on just one, instead of grasping both pulls equally. Since that pull is to the side, i.e., not centered the way 1 pull would be, either the pull starts coming loose over time, or the drawer gets out of plumb from people pulling just on one side instead of both sides equally. I also believe that the pull size should vary according to the width of the drawer. The rough rule of thumb is that if using a single pull per drawer, the pull should be approximately one-third the width of the drawer. I feel that in your second pic, that pull looks too wide for that drawer. In your 3rd pic you posted, the drawers appear wider than the drawers in the 2nd pic. It's JMHO, but you should get smaller pulls for narrower drawers, and wider pulls for wider drawers. I would have the pulls be horizontal on the drawers, and vertical on the doors. I would center the pulls that are horizontal.

I made pain de mie yesterday and decided that since it is almost square, I would cut sandwiches into triangles.The sandwich on the left (with pickles) is for my brother, and the one with tomato is mine. He doesn't like tomatoes, and I didn't want pickles on mine, since I used Bleu cheese dressing that I had made instead of mayo, as I had used the last of the mayo to make the dressing. When I went to the store on Tuesday, they were out of mayo, and I did not want to make my own, since we are going back to Cathedral City tomorrow. I will take the bread with me, although I was slightly disappointed in it, partly because I could not find whole wheat flour Tuesday and therefore had to make white bread. When I made the bread, the dough rose quite a bit more than usual, as I generally make it with whole wheat or rye flour, and so I had to push the dough down to get the top of the Pullman loaf pan to close. The bread came out a bit denser than I like for white bread, but it is easy to slice very thinly. I did have to trim the crusts before toasting the bread for the sandwiches because the bread came out with thick, tough crusts, even though I buttered them when it came out of the oven. I will definitely try to go back to whole wheat pan de mie in the future, but if I have to make white bread, I might reduce the recipe a bit. I will not be taking my Pullman pan to CC, however. I might decide I like the dense white bread for sandwiches, but I cannot tell yet. It is certainly easier to cut into triangles, but I really do not like eating triangular sandwiches. The square sliced Swiss cheese does fit better on this bread, but normally I use round sliced Provolone on sandwiches. I use Swiss cheese mostly for Reuben sandwiches, and those require rye bread and sauerkraut, and I always have sauerkraut.

Brummel and Brown the regular or the flavored. I too love a fresh garden tomato BLT on toast.

I guess my two favorite ways for toast would be:

1: lots of butter and using it to dip into an over-easy egg
2: peanut butter and black raspberry jam.

I wish I could find a nice toasting bread. There is a company that I remember offering it, Pepperidge Farms?, and it never fell apart or got holey when you spread the butter on. Haven't been able to find it for the last couple of years at our local groceries. I only bought it on occasion.

schoolhouse I buy one called English Toasting Bread it is wonderful toasted. I have found it at Kroger and also at walmart in the bakery area at both.

I just did a google search and found this recipe and many more for those that like to bake.

Had that last night for supper, only because we don't eat pork, we use Oscar Myers Turkey Bacon, and would also have added avacodos if we had some. I grilled the onions first in butter. So good!
Love butter, jalapeno jelly or mint jelly also on toast.

Cheese Whiz.

Peanut Butter, I don't always use jam/jelly.

A stack of paper thin slices of extremly ripe summer tomato, with salt and pepper. If the toast is buttered, a paper thin slice of sweet onion is nice. If not, real mayo.

Butter, then a mashed up soft boiled or over easy egg.

Actually, I think I really like toast LOL!

hmmmmmmmm I can't pick just one thing:

I always have margarine on my toast. Always. Along with it:

Chocolade Pasta (Chocolate Spread. Dutch. Heaven in a jar)

chocolade hagelslag (More Dutch goodness: Chocolate sprinkles)

Smooth peanut butter.

I like my bread toasted most of the time. I think it improves a sandwich and it's fine by itself too. Makes a nice alternative to a bun for a burger.

What goes on it depends on what's it for. Sometimes plain old buttered (not margarine) toast. Sometimes peanut butter, honey, jelly, cinnamon sugar or a combination of some. That's usually good for breakfast. For a sandwich I'll often top with ranch dressing or Miracle Whip, sometimes some steak sauce, ketchup or BBQ sauce dependin on what is in it.. If it's going with pasta, some garlic, Italian Seasoning and black pepper, sometimes some parmesan or mozzarella.

When tomatoes are in season.... a little butter, sliced tomato, and slathered with salad dressing....YUM!!!! I don't even need the lettuce OR bacon! :)
