No longer care for iceberg lettuce!

Love a good baby spinach salad, with walnut bits, chopped egg and blue cheese dressing.

I just ate a left over salad and had to pick out all the wilted stuff.
I prefer darker lettuce or spinach. After that I like to add hard boiled eggs, sliced, not chopped, black olives, green olives, green onions, thinly sliced celery, thinly sliced radishes, oh yes, radichio, croutons, tomatoes when they are home grown and chopped water chestnuts. I do like sun flower seeds too, but rarely think to buy them.

I like Good Season's Italian dressing made from the little packages of ingredients and I like bottled Ranch Dressing. I also like Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch dressing, but I rarely have thet on hand either.

Whenever I have any leftover grilled steak I slice it thin and add it to the salad.

I like to use spring mix and baby spinach, then add only vegetables . I make up a huge salad to eat from till it's gone. When I actually take some out to eat, I add a protein such as cheese, chicken breast, salmon, etc. Once in a while I'll add some pineapple chunks, or mandarin oranges that have been packed in water.

Funny you should mention this. I'm really looking forward to my Salad tonight. Main Man bought some Marinated Artichoke Hearts. I've already nibble 2!

I will have Spinach, Tomato, Onion, Artichoke Hearts, Bell Pepper, Shredded Carrots with Red Wine Vinaigrette. Possible a little Mozzarella Shredded Cheese. Maybe! Wish I had sliced mushrooms.

Any and all veggies. I don't like most salads with meat other than Chinese Chicken salad.

I like lettuce,spinach,cucumbers,celery,red onion,jicama,radishes,red cabbage,artichoke hearts,carrots,peppers,white asparagus and baby corn.

I also like "harvest" salads with things like apples,mandarine orange slices and dried cranberries.

Lettuce and other greens, tomaotes, hard boiled eggs, chicken breast,cut up, croutons, grated cheese....cut up cantalope .......all with Litehouse brand bleu cheese dressing. If I don't have croutons, I like chow mein noodles for crunch. Dottie

I like either spring mix and baby spinach, or Romaine lettuce (been picking mine from the garden), or my favorite Butter lettuce. I put in a ton of stuff. Usually red and yellow peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, radishes, red cabbage, carrots. Also add on occasion feta cheese, dried cranberries and toasted sliced almonds. I change dressings every time from Catalina French to Chunky Blue Cheese to Creamy Poppy Seed to Raspberry Vinaigrette. DH loves it with mushrooms and hates radishes, say they taste like dirt, and only has it with balsamic vingegar and oil every single time!!!

Spring mix salad with fresh mushrooms, Feta cheese, croutons,onion, cucumber, black olives and just about any other vegetable that is available! I love fresh Veggies. I prefer fresh Veggies over fruit anyday!

Most kinds of greens, especially spinach and Romaine lettuce. then ... not all at once, but things to choose from ... chopped green onions, radishes, garbanzos, chopped Cheddar cheese, crumbled Feta cheese, chopped tomato, black olives, mushrooms, cucumbers, chopped green or red pepper .... the list goes on ... :-) Almost any veggie you can eat raw.

Some don't seem to belong in salads though. Green beans and beets, though I love them by themselves, I do not care for in salads.

I hate the washing and chopping, but love the final result!

Spinach & Romaine are my favorite greens then depending on the weather different combos of the following... tomatoes, cukes, carrots, black olives, pecans, walnuts, sunflower seeds, grapes, strawberries, broccoli, red & yellow peppers, and shredded cheese (whatever is on hand).

I start out with a huge pasta serving bowl. LOL

Baby spring mix greens or romaine lettuce
Sliced Radishes
Sliced Mushrooms
Thinly sliced red and green pepper
English Cucumber
Cherry or Grape Tomatoes when tomatoes aren't in season
Green or Kalamata Olives
Feta or grated Cheddar cheese or Parmesan slices
Either sliced Strawberries or canned Mandarin Oranges or sometimes both. Might add some fresh blueberries too.
Sliced pork loin chop, or sausage or chicken or steak or tuna or ham or salami

Salad dressing is either homemade low fat Dijon vinagrette or lemon juice and Extra Virgin olive oil.
Never a store bought dressing.

My salad is huge and it may take me almost an hour to eat it but I figure it is mainly water and fibre in the end and I burn calories from all the chewing. LOLOL I have this salad sometimes 3 times or more a week.

I love salads.

I make an awesome chopped salad that has everything but the kitchen sink in it. It's very expensive to make, because you have to buy all those veggies, but it keeps a long time, and I can eat on it for a few days. I used to put the colored bell peppers in it for show, but they are waaaaay too expensive now!

When I'm just hungry for a plain salad, I get a bag of spring mix and a bag of european salad mix, mix them up and add mushrooms, olives, mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, and sunflower seeds. Yummy!

Mixed greens (no head lettuce) red onion, cucumber slices, fruit (can be pineapple, strawberries, cantaloupe, raspberries, blueberries or a combination of any of these) and toasted english walnuts with a little orange zest mixed into a raspberry vinegarette dressing.

Or, romaine, red onion, cucumber, black olives, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese with a greek of caesar dressing.

I really like most of Kens brand of lite dressings and use them when I am not in the mood or don't have the ingredients to mix something up.

Lettuce (iceberg is my first choice), tomato, cucumber, radish, sprouts, chopped hard boiled egg, maybe some black olives. My favorite dressing is French.

If I had my choice I would have iceburg lettuce, red onions, mushrooms, red peppers, black olives, banana peppers, hard boiled eggs, chicken breast, tomatoes, and mozz cheese (shredded). I like a whole bunch of different dressings but lately I've been "mixing" ranch and catalina at the same time.

My very favourite salad (not now that I'm pregnant and fussy, but usually....) is baby spinach, avocado, sliced almonds, very thinly sliced purple onion and baby tomatoes with a dressing made of balsamic vinegar and olive oil and a sprinkle of sugar.

I like baby spinach mixed in with any other greens. Cheese (feta is my favorite for salad), black olives, thin sliced red onion, tiny baby carrots, bacon bits, croutons and a vinagret (I know I spelled that wrong but don't care today). I like a lot of others things mentioned, too, like sunflower seeds. I do not like mushrooms or tomatoes of any kind (only tolerate them on a sandwich). Otherwise, I like any other vegies on my salad as long as it's fresh.

Romaine, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts with oil and vinegar dressing.

I love iceberg lettuce, grilled onions, cheese,carrots, cukes, radishes, bacon bits(real bacon), salad toppings, croutons(but I crush them first- I got a bad canker sore once inside my mouth from biting one)cajun turkey in strips,celery, broccoli, and cauliflower.

I am weird though, I don't like salad dressing.:(

We eat lots of salads. About half the time it is the main course. It's a "build your own" affair, with all of the veggies in separate bowls, sort of buffet style. DH sometimes grills meat to cut into the salad. Other times he cooks ground turkey, chicken, or beef with a package of taco seasoning mix and tops with cheese. After building our salad, a huge scoop of this goes on top. Then my choice of fat-free dressing (they're a lot tastier than they were in the old days). I can eat a HUGE bowl of this and still lose weight. I like a bowl bigger than my salad so I can mix everything up. He calls it my "Jethro" bowl, LOL.

My favorite greens are the baby spinach & hearts of romaine. My favorite 'fixins' are:
fresh sliced mushrooms, celery, scallions, chick peas, bean sprouts, hearts of palm, water chestnuts, bleu cheese crumbles,black olives, cherry tomatoes and homemade parmesan coated sourdough croutons. Dressing is either my homemade zesty French or my Bacon dressing.

Something that I don't think was mentioned here was a salad of dandelion greens or endive. They are interchangable. Just add onion and a hot bacon dressing. What I wouldn't give for a big bowel full of either the way my Mother-in-law fixed them. I learned from her, but somehow her's always tasted better.

Romaine, grilled chicken, chopped hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded carrots, pimiento-stuffed green olives, blue or feta cheese, and creamy Caesar dressing....or...

Romaine with the leaves kept whole and layered on a plate, thin slices of Parmesan cheese on top, one teeny tiny itsy bitsy miniscule piece of anchovy, and creamy Caesar dressing drizzled on top....or...

Romaine, buffalo or breaded chicken cutlets, tomatoes and cucmbers with creamy blue cheese dressing.
