If you all could plz pray for Cody and Sydney

The kids got moved to N.C. last wk and Cody was told he was not being deployed. He got orders yesterday and will be deployed to Afganastin (sp) in 9 days. He is very upset more so for Sydney who knows no one in N.C. and that he has to leave her.....He needs to concetrate on the job he was trained to do and not worry about Sydney.....She is trying to be strong for Cody but is very upset. Please pray for this young couple and for Codys safe return......

Will do Stacy, it's not easy being the spouse of a Military person. There are (or there used to be, it's been over 20 years since DH retired) wives clubs, and support groups all over a base. Also it's very easy to make friends with other military dependents, you become like a family because everybody's family's are so far away.

I'm sorry she hasn't had time to make a lot of new friends yet but if she's going to stay there she will soon find friends.

A job would be good too, she could always use the money, but it would give her something to do while Cody is gone.

God bless him for his service too!

Hi Stacy...so good to hear from you.... When I've "know" someone on here for over about 14 years...I really "miss" them when they disappear from my cyber life. It's like really missing someone I know and miss in real life. We've been through a lot with you. The burning of your house was one...I remember a lot of us sent you Christmas decorations to start over with. When you got your new house built. When you decided to end the first marriage and rekindled old love with "B" And all the ups and downs with your kids. Oh Gee melon.......isn't that just like a doctor to load you up with all those meds and not really check you out???? Could you go to an OB/GYN instead of a family practice doc? That would be my suggestion. The Bactrim could potentially cause you alot more problems, by destroying all your good intestina flora. Here's an option: Try taking something like pepsid or prilosec for a week. I got a ton of bloating, belching, nausea and diarrhea from my GERD during perimenopause. If you get relief from that, then you can probably assume you have reflux. At that point, if you don't like being on meds, then try adjusting your diet......avoid sugar, white flour, caffeine, etc. My GI tract went absolutely bonkers during perimenopause. But I think what I would do first, is call an OB/GYN. They will pay more attention to your ovaries. And men just don't get it. I went to the ER on Christmas day for severe pain. I was sure it was my ovary. The CT scan showed a small cyst on the ovary. The doc was convinced I had diverticulitis. He even made a bet with me. How could he think that.......my pain was on my right side, and diverticulitis occurs on the left side! Well....I was right. It was "just" the cyst on the ovary. He said it was too small to cause all that pain........but he was wrong. I had that particular pain for almost a month before it went away. Yes, it's possible that you have diverticulitis. And I would hate to steer you wrong. But if it is reflux, you should feel better soon with something like prilosec. If not, then I would try the bactrim. Do you have left-sided pain? Do you have a low grade fever?

We have a 4mth old puppy (Foodle). We both work 1hr from home and cannot come home to attend to Burt during the day. He is has full run of our garage which is an internal access garage, fully insulted (we live in New Zealand) and has all his toys, bed, water etc to keep him occupied and safe. We have a young girl who comes by twice a day to take him outside for walks and to feed him his lunch (he's still getting fed 3x times a day). She does this 3 days a week and the other 2 days he goes to doggie day care (which is loves so much he never wants to leave!). We also have a webcam in our garage which provides live streaming, so we can see him. I can assure everyone that most of the time he either plays with his toys or sleeps. We believe we have done the very best for our wee pup to ensure that he is not cooped up all day and that he gets good socialisation with other dogs, and because of this he is the most well behaved, adorable, loving family member. We would love to spend all day with him if we could, but we think we have provided the best arrangement for him and us. I would recommend for those that worry about your dog being stuck home all day, to invest in someone to drop around at least once a day to walk and play with him/her. A small amount of $$ to give you peace of mind and for your doggo to have some outside play time, is worth it.

I would like to see you bring Sydney back to stay with you while Cody's gone. It will be a real ordeal until he's back safe with her.

Good thoughts for Sydney and Cody. Six months will go by fast. The Fayetteville area has lots to do. Fort Bragg is huge and has lots to offer.

We lived there for three years one of which my husband was in Korea. Back then we had no computers or telephones to call on. We only had letters to rely on.

She will do fine and it won't be long before he will be back with her again. The life of a military couple is rewarding in that you get to see lots of the world. The military community is very tight knit and takes care of their own.

There are lots of places to take craft classes. Also the chapels on Post will be glad to help her and she will make lots of friends there.

Just think of all the things she will be able to show Cody when he returns.

I want to repeat Nita..az's message. The Military is such a growing experience and BECAUSE she will be left to make her own way in such an environment, she will grow in ways you could not imagine. Let her spread her wings, and send her words of encouragement that this 'event' in her life, while being sad, it is an amazing experience. ("Nam being MY growing and learning experience...20 months worth)

I can so empathize with Sydney and Cody.

It was another time and another war, but I've been there, as a newly wed, when my DH was sent over, for a little more than a year.

I did move back home with my parents. I went back to work, lived on the allotment, and put all my salary in the bank for us to have when he came home.

As Cody has already seen, being in the service can mean sudden changes, so decisions are not set in concrete.

I would bring Syd home if that's what she wants. I know how it is being in a strange place not knowing anyone.It sucks!
Oh and tell Cody I said "Thank You!" and Syd too for being there for him.

As a military wife she needs to start being used to deployments.
There will be MANY as the years go by, and even if he gets out after this enlistment, deployments are part of their life.

There is no need to go home to Mom, she'll find her way.
She will make lifetime friends with other wives in the same position as her.
She will amaze herself how strong she can become.
She also has spouse prefernce for hiring if she wants to work on the base to keep busy.

Deployments are so much more "family friendly" now with skype, cell phones and the internet.
In the dark ages mail was poor, and a phone call was a rarity. It will be much easier on both of them with all this access.

DH was in the service for 28 years and gone at least 60% of that time. Like Nita and others we raised a family and traveled places we never would have been as civilians.

Best wishes for both of them..and you'll be suprised how well she will do on her own.

Positive thoughts for Cody's safe return. It certainly is not easy for either one of them, but please tell them how much his service to our country is appreciated.

My Son-in-law has been deployed at least 6 times in the 17 years he has been in the Army and will be going to Afghanistan again this summer. Our daughter has become quite the independent woman.

Stacy updated on facebook and Cody isn't going right now.

"Praise God! I know prayers work we got super great news.....They are still deploying some of Codys troop but have decided they don't need all of them so another drawing....they drew Cody and he is now down graded to STANDBY!!! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers they work!"
I don't think she will mind that I posted this... I hope not! lol

all cody has to do is go to the officer in charge and get the name of the wife/partner who handles his group...

even though he's on standby it might be a good thing just in case...you sure can't be shy as a military wife!

Have you told Sydney about this forum? I'm sure she could find a few shoulders to lean on. She can use this forum to break up a long day.
