Today is my wedding anniversary, I can't believe it has been 54 years, it seems so much longer than that. Vique.

I can recall only ever buying at Nordstrom twice. Once I purchased a Custo Barcelona top that was fun and funky, and I loved the heck out of that shirt. On another occasion I bought some perfume on a whim, and encouraged by a helpful (and slightly pushy) sales associate. I decided I didn't care for it once I got it home and returned it. Everything in the store has always seemed overpriced to me. I remember looking at plain white t-shirts on a rack there that were over $100, and just wondering why in the world. I'm now wondering if perhaps the store has changed a bit with the times? I understand the appeal of upscale and luxury goods, but only when the goods are truly special. ETA: This is not a swipe at what anyone here bought, just my experience with the store and a sort of "wondering out loud" about giving the place another go.

One of the lessons is, Americans are doers, we are problems solvers. We don't leave our fellow citizens behind or abandon our duties. All those fire fighters died trying to evacuate those trapped. The passengers on flight 93 died trying to take back the plane and diverted its destruction of the target. I wish we all had that strong of a sense of community and dedication to our fellow man.

@Rho Dodendron we would buy her a ticket to fly out for their anniversary but I would still be missing. I can't take any vacation time a week before Christmas. I work retail. It's blackout month for vacation. When my parents had their 60th Anniversary, they celebrated it during the summer before. They hosted a huge party at their home. My children and I attended. Some of my sisters kids came (she has a LOT of kids) as did she. All my sisters were there, actually. They wanted to do the same this past summer for their 70th, but my nephew got married the same weekend and nobody could afford two trips to the west coast, so the wedding for my nephew took precedence. I do like some of the ideas above and will pass them on to my sisters. Thank you all for your ideas!
