What is best is all relevant. On a strictly "less flow" basis AND using a suction cleaner, I've found the Kreepy Krauly requires less. Typically 30gpm or less. The Hayward Navigator requires the most, typically 48-50gpm. The Pool Cleaner is the best if you do not want operating issues, trips to the store for parts and a relatively mid-level flow of 30-35gpm. The Pool Cleaner will not get stuck in corners like the Kreepy so there is a bit of a positive trade off for a few gpm more. On pressure side cleaners, there are really no efficient units when comparing the lower flows of the suction types. If you have a ton of leaf potential, your going to have to go with a bag type cleaner in most cases.

Thank you muddy_water and poolguynj. I guess I'll brush the ends by hand until things warm up. In California, an extra kilowatt hour costs 44 cents, so the booster pump costs me around $350 a year to run (we have electric bills with "brackets", like the income tax). I'm wondering whether to buy a Legend II and shut off the booster, next time something breaks.

Why not just have the speed on the intelliflo bump up when the pool cleaner runs? An intellitouch, and actuator would be more than $1k but you can always use the easy touch ($5-700, or the lesser suntouch $(400.00) .

This is a subject that I am very passionate about. I had my first i/g pool built three years ago - it's a 19 x 37 oval and the PB built the skimmer and jets on the same wall, with the jets on either side of the skimmer. When I protested, I was told that the jets will blow across the pool, hit the wall and then will circle back to the skimmer; therefore bringing the debris right to the skimmer where it will be collected. This has turned out to be a crock - all of the debris is blown to the other side of the pool where it all collects, far away from the skimmer. The only advantage is that I can skim my pool basically in one area. MAYBE this might work in a narrower pool - but mine, at 19' across is too wide to have the current bounce off the wall and head back to where it came. I have bought one of those old-fashioned portable skimmers used on above ground pools and use it when conditions are windy to try to control the debris that blows in my pool. I have to put a vacuum hose in the skimmer and bring the hose to the other side of the pool and attach it to the portable skimmer, which does a great job of skimming. But when we use the pool, we have to take it all out because it's in the way, and what a PITA it is, not to mention it is unsightly. So, I said all that to say I would not recommend this configuration. Good Luck and all the best, Jan
