Tahoe Blue Plaster/Midnight Blue Pebbles??
Comments (9)Get verification of the type of pigments that are in PT's blue plasters. IT IS ORGANIC BLUE pigment, pthalocyanine to be exact, and is used to dye textiles. It will bleach with exposure to chlorine, just like blue jeans do. It streaks because the pigment is so fine. It will float to the surface of the plaster and must be troweled back into the cement matrix. Fortunately for PT, the pebbles hide the bleaching and streaking. IF you have to have their product, be sure to take pictures of the color during the installation, after the pool is filled with water, and after a couple of months of exposure to chlorine and sunlight. Take another a year later... the dark blues will turn to a dark grey... the light blues will turn to light grey... Heck, do your own experiment, ask the plaster crew to pour some of the wet plaster into a mold and let it cure. Once it has cured for 28 days, set the sample tile half way into a container of weak household bleach and place it out of the way where it can get sunlight. The half that is exposed will change color with in a week or two... Buy a plaster that is known for using ONLY INORGANIC PIGMENTS (i.e. cobalt oxides)...See MoreAdding salt to early to PebbleSheen
Comments (12)i didn't think about this until tonight but just wanted to say that i hope that me posting this conversation with the pebbletec folks did not offend any of the pool builders on this forum. that certainly was NEVER the intent. although your answers and comments are on the mark, the feedback in regards to the salt addition into the pool left me extremely uneasy and felt that i needed to go directly to the source to help me understand your comments and why my PB treats new installations of PT/PS the way he does. so with that said, if anyone was offended, please accept my sincerest apologies. as always i appreciate your comments during our building process as your information proves to be invaluable to those of us that frankly have no idea as to what we are doing! thanks again....See MoreJet Black Pebble Tec, chlorine or salt?
Comments (5)It was late last night with a glass of wine in hand... maybe my question wasn't clear enough!! I am worried of the "staining" whether it is hard water or salt. My BFF has a salt water pool and she claims more water stains along the water line tile and her surrounding deck than I ever had on my old chlorine pool. I do realize that the salt becomes chlorine but is this a factor to be taken into consideration when choosing for my black pool?! Thanks!...See MoreSalt water chlorinator with chlorine tablets?
Comments (8)Its not an issue to use chlorine with a SWCG.... But-- you have to ask yourself why? Six (6) hours is plenty enough time for your SWCG to maintain the right chlorine level for your pool. You have some other kind of problem. Not enough Salt? Setting on the SWCG too low? No CYA? Too much CYA? Are you using a cover on your pool? Buy a test kit and salt test strips, what is the full readings on your pool including salt? What is your SWCG set to on the panel? Your pool is awfully warm which makes me suspect you have a cover on...if so, this can create a wonderful environment for algae. In our last pool with a SWCG, Chlorine levels of 5-6PPM, CYA at 40-50, Phosphate at...See Morepoolguynj
