Looking for colorful, 'cottagey' rug

We're renovating our beach cottage and in the process, pulling up all carpeting so we'll have hardwood floors throughout. I'm thinking of keeping most of the rugs neutral, like sisal/seegrass, but in one room -- the playroom/TV room -- I'd like something patterned and colorful. The only known 'color' in the room now is a gray sofa. The walls will be white beadboard on bottom and probably a turquoise/aqua on top, but will wait to determine that after I find a rug. Next door is the kitchen, which will be black & white w/ pistachio green and red accents. So those are the colors I'd like to bring into the room in question: red, turquoise, light green. Love the look of the Dash & Albert cotton rugs but I don't want something so lightweight. Size should be 6x9 or 8x10 and of course, I don't want to spend too much! Under $500 would be great. I've been poking around online and I can't seem to find anything. I keep thinking I'd like a funky striped rug, or even a floral if it wasn't too serious/formal. The house will basically be entirely new, although it started as an older Cape and we intend to treat it as an older house so I'm looking for retro beach cottage style, not modern. Any suggestions?

I personally think something like this one, a spin off of the "Something's Gotta Give" beach house rug, would look fantastic.

Have you checked LLBean? They have a new cottage plaid wool hooked rug that is vibrant and fun-looking. There's also a good review from someone who bought it with a note on how the colors look IRL. The cost for a 6x9 is $529...but it should hold up well since it's wool.

Are you looking for seeds? do you have any seeds to trade? I looked at your website -- noticed you wanted to identify "unknowns". Your daylilies are gorgeous!!! How'd you get so many unknowns?! anyway, the "unknown purple flower" on p. 2 is Centaurea montana (perennial bachelor's buttons). Also on p. 2: yes, I'd say that's Siberian Iris, and yes, that's Columbine. Can't help you with the daylilies though. Even if they look familiar, there are so many that are similar.

Thonotorose, I use a large area of my screen-greenhouse for the propagation of plants. I sometimes start seeds, buy seedlings, buy starter plants and grow them up in there. When I put in my pool I did it all myself and also made it into a large enough area for growing plants. The screened area is 50' by 40' and 15 feet high so it gives me plenty of room for my plants. What a pretty room. Are you thinking simple tiers or tiebacks? A single tier could go nicely inside the frame over the lower pane. For any curtains hung above that, though, I think I'd hang them to cover the frames, with their top (rod pocket or rod) continuing the line of the top of the armoire and window trim, then stop them as short as feels right--sill or apron. That would allow the armoire to provide its mass, while the windows would still keep the room light and airy--like it is now, but with a little softness added.

These are definitely colorful and "cottagey". In fact, I just ordered a runner for our lake cottage. They might even be a little more colorful than you're looking for, but some feature the reds and greens you want.

This is funny... I had already seen the LL Bean rug in my search (when I was looking for another rug that they used to have but no longer carry!) and thought, "Naah, don't like the plaid." But then I looked at it again, and showed it to DH who proclaimed it "cool," so now I'm really considering it! So thanks for the reminder!

I looked at some braided rugs too but for some reason, I'm just not really a fan of braided rugs. (Having said that, the old rug in this room was an indoor/outdoor braided rug that worked just fine!)

Check out Dash and Albert rugs. I think they have a cottage look-but I'm no designer!
