I just love caladiums!

love the pics, nice alocasia....also the the gate so the dog can look out, that's how we built ours with that in mind.....my wife covers for me when i build things totally out of whack, butcher carpenter here, you sure it was suppose to be crooked....:)

Your Caladiums are so beautiful, you should grow the Thai bred varieties, they have amazing colors, here is mine:

I would second the Thai bred types they do have an incredible range of colors I do find in my locale they go dormant just as the regulars BUT the growing season is longer . For some reason they are hard to find and expensive and the types that I have don't get as as large
as the regulars. The series called "Stained glass" are fantastic!!! gary

That is a great play house for a kid and later would make a great gardening shed. Very clever. I love caladiums too and have one of the Thai. For me the bulbs don't multiply but seem to disappear slowly year after year. That is a disappointment. Still they give great color in the shade.

I got this plant in March last year and so far it is doing well.

I, too, love the Thai caladiums. Though I also have yet to figure out how to get them to multiply. Couldn't afford any this last year. Hope to get more next winter. I have purchased from Brent and Becky's and been happy with them except the price.

I agree about the colors of the Thai varieties. I have purple leaves so dark purple they appear almost black and some in this picture have copper and bronze leaves.

The afternoon sun is not doing the calladiums justice in these pictures.

I use a large area of my screen-greenhouse for the propagation of plants. I sometimes start seeds, buy seedlings, buy starter plants and grow them up in there.
When I put in my pool I did it all myself and also made it into a large enough area for growing plants. The screened area is 50' by 40' and 15 feet high so it gives me plenty of room for my plants. If I get hot when working on the plants I take a dip, cool off, and go back to working on my plants. This picture shows the rows of tiered shelving of pots. It's my own little garden center.

Mine didn't produced any pup last year but it was a very short growing season for it as I pulled it in July (we were relocating).. replanted it in March. If it didn't multiplied by itself then I will de-eye it in the next season..

After taking a second look at the play house I guess it is too small for a garden shed later on, it was hard to judge it's size for me. But the idea in a bigger size would be cool for one. :o)

Here is an old photo showing humboldtii wrightii Thai caladiums next to an orchid.

As you can see the leaves are no bigger than the petals of the orchids. Very small and just lovely. I believe I lost them due to the hard frosts we have had the last few years. Next time they will be in very hummus-y soil and heavily mulched for the winter.
