RE: Got Hair Done

I was reading Schoolhouse's post on her new hair do~~I want to break up with my hairdresser of 10 years, as others mentioned she does not listen! My hair is curly in the back, a bit straight on top with a big wave on each side of my forehead. I want it shorter up the back and longer on the sides, and I like a razor cut, makes look so much better.

How do you break up with them? Do you ever say anything? My gal works at the mall at JCP and the guy I want to go to also works at the mall~~~I have never seen her walking around the mall, what if I run into her with my new do??

I do consider my hair difficult to cut because of so much going on and it is thick, I color it myself. A gal who just to cut my hair back in the day manages the Star Bucks at the mall, she has hair a bit like mine and this guy does hers~~she told me to GO!

I am going to do it, but what do I say if I ever run into this other gal?? Why do I worry about it??

You shouldn't worry about it. Nor should she get all bent out of shape if she should happen to see you somewhere with your new haircut! I mean, do you REALLY want to put off getting a new hairdresser because of what your other might think?? Just on the outside chance that you might run into her?

I understand your dilemna. What is her schedule? Figure out her days off and try out the new guy on one of those days.

Ahhh, welcome to island! She is GORGEOUS! I think you done a great job on her! And you were so clever to add the stars and the earrings and the eyes were PERFECT! I would be honored to hang her from my tree, anytime!!! She is the perfect garden keeper! And the plants you used could not have been any better!Glad to see you are back up and running again. Looks like you had quite a few fronds to pick up, bet that took awhile. Sorry about your trailer birdhouse, guess it was time to put a WOMAN in charge of things!! blessings-sherri

Sandy, I believe you are correct, that it is "The Laugher", or Charadra deridens. I thank you and Sherry for the lookups. I googled images on line and the little face looks the same as the 'Laugher'. I wonder if he hitched a ride in on a Butterfly Bush I bought yesterday? I watered the plant well after placing it on the deck and the watering might have caused him to move off of it. Since I didn't know what he would eat, I put him down in the garden last night. I hope he finds something he can eat as he was so sweet. Yes, Susan, that little face was just precious. It reminds me of the faces of the little white seal pups with the big eyes. Susan, my redrings are doing fine so far, except for one baby. It dried out in the top, then the leaves slowly dried up and fell off. The little stem is now drying out. I can't see a wound on the stem so I don't know what might have happened. I'll look for it next spring, hoping the roots will survive. Even though I had several RedRing flower heads, not one seed pod was produced! It blooms the earliest of all the milkweeds I've tried to grow, maybe there aren't enough pollenizers around that early in the spring. This might be part of the reason it is declining in the wild. Although, come to think of it, the wild one I found two years ago was blooming later in the summer but it looked like it had been mowed down at some point so maybe it was a second growth I found. I'm so nervous to mess around very much with the RedRing MW; just trying to keep hands off and let nature take care, although I do check them over each day. It is such a pretty plant; hope we can get some more growing and producing seed. I did have one baby actually bloom this year so I'm hopeful it will produce several flower heads next season, along with the wild one. Last year the wild one only put up one stalk (if I'm remembering correctly) and this year it put up four stalks and all had several flower heads, just no seed pod. Do you have RedRing growing in your garden? Mary

@ Omar, Isn't one of the most common Garden excuse, I mean phenomenal,. Can't trim due to over abundance of flowers. :)... When I do, it rips my heart out. Ragna, When I used to hang out at that Xericworld site, those Californian growers would argue about if one should or shouldn't cut the dried Yucca foliage off of the big plants. Many said that it was a no no. I think they were purist about natural form and function. But I go round and round about the issue. I am too confused and conflicted to be a purist.. It sure does make for a neater look but usually every year , I have a bird nesting in the dead foliage. I think the dead foliage layer helps with the xericness of the plant reducing water evaporation and collecting and holding moisture when it falls. . We are in gardens and most of us deliver water and are not in as dry as much of the native areas of these plants. Every year I take some of it off but leaving some. I like using the base fore small tendrils vines to climb on. It comes down to do what you want, there is no right or wrong ways to do it even though we wade through some gardens of strong opinions.. I need to do some more trimming. I got poked out there the other day..

Getting your hair done during Covid

wildchild2x2, I'm with you with our warlock. He can't close anything down though. During the first shutdown all he kept saying was the "science says". Ok show us the science. Some county representatives took him to court and the liar didn't have any proof of science. He lost the case. He still can designate the number of people allowed in a business (not that many business or people are paying attention to him), but that is it. His old rules still apply, but there is always ways around it. Like if you drink you have to have a meal. Like covid knows when your drinking alcohol or not. So bars just put some hotdogs on a paper plate on the tables. It doesn't mater that that hot dog has been sitting there for 8 hours. It's food and it is on the table.

I wouldn't give her a second thought. I have changed hair dressers, even here in a smaller city and don't worry what my previous hairdresser thinks.

I've never understood people fretting over this issue.

Just STOP GOING to her. You owe her NOTHING.

Why do you feel obligated to say anything at all?

Just don't make another appointment!

Teresava~~~thanks for understanding my vent/feelings;) And giving me a kind and thoughtful solution, for dumping a person I have gotten to know through the last 10 years. I do not feel obligated, I just try to deal with an ackward situation as kindly as possible~~~

IF she were to ask you about it I'd just say you admired a friends cut who has similar hair to yours and she suggested you go to her hairdresser to see if that cut would work for you. Period, end of conversation, nothing saying you'll go back to her. You really don't owe her an explanation. You shop at more than one store and don't feel the need to explain it to your "normal" store. Change is good!

Just do it - people change doctors, banks, churches etal - just DO IT - no need for any explanation!

cIf it is important to you, I suppose you could send her a thank you note. Then if you run into her, be warm and friendly, not awkward or apologetic. Her comfort will depend on yours. I am 99% sure you are more concerned than she would be though. You have no obligations to your hairdresser. It is normal to make changes.

Change your underwear?

Change your hairdresser?

Big deal?

Oh, yeah - you don't talk to your underwear (especially for ten years).

(Does your underwear last that long?

Some of mine does - but needs a supportive girdle: mid-life crisis (not for the underwear - for me).
