changed from tankless instant hot water to Solar hot water
Comments (4)I am not clear on your set up. What are you not telling us? I do not understand what âÂÂtank 134.6 hP 111â means. Where is the blue pipe connected to & what temperature is the blue pipe water? It seems to me that for this to operate properly, especially with a mixing valve, that you may need a buffer tank between the solar collector and the active tank. Can you possibly supply us with a detailed schematic including temperatures & flow chart? SR...See Moresink base size for garbage disposal/instant hot/filtered water
Comments (3)Thanks for your photos and replies. Yes, we want the soap dispenser also. That's why we want ONE faucet for the instant hot and filtered water. That would be at least three "things" in total on the counter behind the prep sink: one faucet for instant hot and filtered water, one regular faucet, and one soap dispenser. Maybe four...disposal air switch as well? I was thinking of an undermount prep sink that is about 15" by 15" inside. I think it will work on the counter; I'm more concerned about underneath. I figure the rest of the cleaning supplies will be under the main clean-up sink and the dishwasher air gap will be there, too. Maybe I need to just buy all of the products ahead of time and see how it fits....See MoreInstant Hot Water Heater Malfunction
Comments (3)Setting the temperature lower is the only solution when that happens. Edit: After I posted, it came to me that the steamy water in all tank water heaters is often caused by sediment build-up and there is no reason that the same shouldn't happen with the instant hot water dispenser tank. This is how it happens: Mineral sediments in hard water build on the interior of the tank, including the heating element. In time, the heating element is cut off from the water in the tank and loses its efficiency. But small amounts of water can get between the sediment layer and the heating element and boil into steam while other parts of the water are not heated that fast. So you get hot water plus steam instead of evenly heated hot water. This problem can be allevieated by flushing the tank. Here is a useful guide to DIY hot water dispender flushing. I came across it when researching this issue. Here is a link that might be useful: DIY hot water dispenser flush This post was edited by tedred on Tue, Oct 21, 14 at 7:01...See MoreInstant Hot Water?
Comments (7)Had ISE insta hot and went through 3 tanks at about 2 1/2 year intervals. When they leak it can cause major damage, so your idea of a pan makes sense. Ours leaked from the bottom of the tank so a pan would have to cover the entire base. Switched to a Wasteking which was significantly cheaper and had slightly better longevity reviews on Amazon (also switched to Wasteking disposal from ISE). We're about a year into the insta hot with about 6 months of daily use and no problems, but my ISEs also lasted that long before failing, so it's too early to tell. If they weren't so useful and had an inline filter I wouldn't have one. We reached a point where when traveling we cut the water and power off to the unit....See Moredavidro1
