If you can't find it, I wonder if it's illegal to find the picture in book somewhere and take it to kinkos to have it enlarged. If it's an older engraving, it may be in the public domain and thus fair game for you. If you can get a clean hi-res scan, there are even places on the web where you can send it as a file and they'll send you a print. A quick google search turned up this one, for example:

In art school we were told if something is 100+ years old, you can copy something without infringing (I expect it's more complicated than that as far as how broadly that is applied). I've also read, forget where, that it's ok to reproduce something if you just want to use it yourself, non-commercially. You just can't sell it without permission.

That's a wonderful print.

If you don't find one reasonably priced, take a look at these. You may find more by searching for red ibis or scarlet ibis.

How funny movin-on!! My husband and I were watching that last night and I commented on how much I love that picture.
My DH was kind of shocked because that is not normally my taste, but there is something about it that I just love.

Yes, there is something about that print. My only luck thus far is the $3K -- too much out of my price budget. I have a very large wall with 10' ceilings behind my sofa. This is the only wall space in my living room, so I was looking for something very striking .. we live close to a birding center and also a butterfly reserve, so the nature theme was perfect -- and I was looking for something with a lot of RED.

The print kinda nailed it.
I know there are plenty of great GW web shoppers -- I hope someone can help me locate this as a print.

It's probably out of copyright, but if you want a really good scan, you might need to do better than Kinkos.

You can put up a request on Ebay, and maybe a vendor has it.

I can't find that print available, except on the HGTV link site you already $aw. Looks like they have the corner on it.

I believe the bird is a red ibis, also known as a scarlet ibis.

Thanks for asking, 'darn darn darn' was all I could say because I still cannot find this print.

I'm hoping that since its on the HGTV feature home that eventually it will become more affordable.

While I have found some great scarlet ibis prints, its the size (and the color) of this particular print that really attracts me.

If you need a "trade" contact, just get in touch with a decorator. See if they can tell you how much it would be (they put a percentage onto it to make their money). There are decorators that would help you buy one thing (at least there are in Kansas City). Good luck.

The HGTV print of the red crane is "LordTurnbull's Ornithological Study of Red Bird". Southern LIving also used it in a presentation at this link. http://www.southernliving.com/home-garden/decorating/decorating-resolutions-00417000086328/page7.html The print is available (or was) at mecox.com but it listed at $3,000.00. Hope this helps.

Oh I love that! Hope someone finds the real thing so I can paint it for my own house. You can sometimes copy paint things over 75 yrs old as long as it's not for resale. A lot of things depend on that though.
