She posted about a week ago on my 'April Fools' knife post. I think I saw a post or two from her after that too.

great shots and cool critters! I love big cats - could stare at them for hours (from a safe distance!) and all sorts of monkeys - they look so human! (wonder if they all stare at us and tell each other "I swannee, they look just like monkeys, don't they?"

Wow Sammie, that's a great little site! Lots of good ideas there. It's so hard to decide what to do, so I just started digging... I'm 1/2 way done with my 2nd garden bed flanking the front walk. It's not in the budget right now to replace the walkway. I don't think I'd like a strictly period 50's garden, seems fairly stark. And I don't like junipers much. :) We do want to paint the house this year - isn't bright teal a 50's colour? ;) To respond to an earlier email, there is no patio or deck out the left side, just a strip of land between mine & my neighbour's house. Currently just lawn and some daffodils, and a big hole that my neighbour keeps promising to fill in (from where they put in a basement suite stairwell). We do have a great big deck out back, it's accessed through a window from inside the house! Kind of strange, but luckily it does have stairs going down to the back yard so we don't only have to climb thru the window. We use the deck a lot, and I have lots of plants in pots there (carnations, forget-me-nots, catnip, mint, sweetpeas). One day when I can afford it, or when the current deck falls apart, whatever comes first, I will lower the deck so we can just walk straight out. That would also make it closer down to the back yard, currently we don't go into the back yard too much except to go to the veggie garden. I also have fantasies of putting a small patio/deck on the roof! It only snows about once a year in Victoria, and it only lasts for a couple days at most. People still talk about "the blizzard of '96" where it we ended up with about a metre of snow - I believe the worst snowfall in this area since 1916? People in the interior of Canada (ie Winnipeg or Calgary) laughed at us :) The city was totally shut down for several days. Anyhoo, thanks so much guys for all your input! I have lots of good ideas now and it's been so fun reading all your replies. I like Sammie's idea of the large paving stones w/4' gaps, and Annie I would also love to get a kidney-shaped *something* in there, but a) don't need a pool and b) don't like floating flowerbeds... maybe I can paint shapes on my mailbox. ;) Thanks everyone! :) Amy

Yep...Nana said it perfectly..whimsical & fun and I'll add refreshing! lol Love the tablecloth that sets the stage for this setting. All the pretty shades of pink along with the glass flower plates and pretty crystal pieces compliment ea other beautifully. Great Flamingo CP and cute little 'baby ones' at ea setting too! I'd love to be sitting there enjoying a tropical drink and listening to the ocean! Thanks Candy for creating this fun theme...makes me want to take a cruise!! jane

Dear Stewie, Your mom must really love you if she's giving you the blue blanket! I do happen to have one, well, 2 actually, but I don't like one of them because it has some ridiculous safety feature that makes it shut off after an hour. How worthless is that??? The GOOD one was a gift from a KT'er because she knew I coveted it. I tried to give her the other one but she would rather not have one than have THAT one. lol She's no dummy. I take my little blue blanket to bed with me every night and I lay it across my belly until I'm toasty thru and thru. During the day, I can usually be found near the dogs and cats, hanging out by the toasty wood stove, where Mr. Woody keeps it fed with big heavy chunks of oak. I'm sorry you've had un-sunshiny days lately, but spring is just around the corner, go peek and see! Obviously you have a terrific mommy who loves you, you and Ara and Elmo are lucky little kids! Thanks for writing and you are looking quite handsome, Stewie, and Ara's very pretty, too. I'm glad you know how to share, you're so nice! Love you, Stewie! FlamingO

I was thinking about Flamey on Saturday morning while I watched a quilting show on tv. I was wondering if she made any more quilts lately. And I miss seeing the little white one :0)

I'm here! Liz wins- she's pretty right. I did have some little computer woes, though, I had to uninstall Mozilla for a while, it was slowing down, running, locking up, etc.

I've been pretty busy sewing lately and hanging out over at Flickr. I got involved in a doll-quilt swap that was tremendous fun and I stayed really busy keeping track of who sent what to whom. I made 3 little quilts, kept 2 and sent one off to my partner. And I got a wonderful little pineapple beauty for me, I just love it.

Then I did a potholder swap, that was fun. I just packaged up a fabric swap for a girl in my quilt-along and I've been sewing a lot for my shop on Etsy.

Oh, and I'm in a placemat swap, I have the rest of the month to make a beachy placemat for my partner.

Plus I'm getting ready to teach 3 sewing classes at the Bernina shop and 2 of them are my own patterns so I have to draft up patterns and instructions for those.

And taxes, I have one more week to get to those. So I'm busy. Thanks so much for asking about me!

Here is a link that might be useful: Link to my Flickr site- the doll quilt swap photos of the 3 that I made...

Flamey, do you have a Bernina? I'm in the market for a new sewing machine, and seriously thinking of Bernina. Do you have recommendations?

I'm glad everything is okay.
Berninas are such good machines. Mine is an embroidery only machine and I love it.

Thanks, girls. I'll try to be better. What a lovely compliment, SheilaJoyce, thanks!

I do have a Bernina, it's about 8 years old and works great. I just love it, it's so powerful and sews a beautiful straight stitch. I don't have any recommendations, Wanda, because I don't keep up with the new models, but if I was getting one, I would want the BSR feature, for free motion quilting. That's the stitch regulator. And I couldn't live without my walking foot.

Yep, busy, busy. Had company last week and had to actually clean the house. Then I did a 1000 postcard mailing for a friend, that's always fun. Ha. lol Woody's so nice, he helps me but it still messes up a whole day. I hope May is less stressful for me! I don't think I could do this every month. I just want to goof off and sew!

Oh, gosh! Thanks so much, girls! You are so sweet. I'm glad you like my stuff, I had fun making it. I'll be sure to show you the placemat I'm getting ready to start. It's going to be beach cottages on the sand with water and sky in the background. And a palm tree or two. Of course!

MaryAnn, if you need any help or anything at all, you let me know, OK? I have a cabinet FULL with too much fabric and I'm happy to share with you!
