I have not had a chance to log in for a while.I hope everyone is doing well and still enjoying there pools and the builders have all they can build.

Wow, blast from the not too distant past! Just had 4-5" snow. The pool is frozen and I have no Winter work yet.

Hey guy I hope things pick up soon for ya. Right now we have 4 to build (Digging today with snow)and other work. We are currently also moveing to a bigger retail store so we are busy as all get out trying to get ready for spring..

That's good to hear, what are the temperatures there now? I know you did your homework on the Pellet Stove and I do have a question. What was the reason that you chose the Pellet Stove over the Gas Stove? I don't have either one and that is why I was asking. We have looked at the Gas Stoves but they didn't recommend them around small children for fear of them getting burnt. All the time we were looking around we never once saw a Pellet Stove. I saw the pictures of them on the website that I was on and I think they look really nice. I am assuming the Pellet Stove burns wood chips right? I was wanting something we could use if the electric would go off, my sister has a Gas one and if the electric goes off they can still manually run it to get heat. After our ice storms for the past two years and losing electric that is why I was considering something like that. The Pellet Stove sounds really nice but not sure if they sell them around here. It was fun watching our grandchildren enjoying themselves and it was a beautiful day last Saturday, not to hot and not to cold, it was just right. "Smiles" Sounds like the three bears huh? "LOL" Is your deck open or closed in? We have one and I really like it. I wanted it to be opened and not closed in as I felt it would take away from being outdoors if we closed it in. There have been times I wished it was closed in but, that is only when it is to hot or because of the mosquitos. We did add extra room in case we change our minds and want it closed in later.

Hi Kay - thanks for the kind words. The boys and I are doing pretty well. I am busy with running the house, loving the boys, working and trying to place my mom and dad into an assisted care facility. My parents health failed miserably the week after my wife passed. Busy yes, but okay. I haven't yet experienced any depression or real loneliness. It's only been 6 weeks though. The leader of the grief group I attend said it could come out of nowhere and hit me or never come at all given my situation. I think I had been preparing myself mentally for my wife's death for years. I don't feel abandoned or even hurt - for me I experience a sense of 'what a shame' that my wife was so sick for so many years. I'm comfortable that she is free from saddness and pain now - and for that I am grateful. The poor thing was so tortured. I've had to face this type of grief before - my third son (I had five altogether) died 13 years ago. For me, that was a worse experience than this. Thank God for my faith. I'd have folded the tent long ago if not for that. I sprinkled my wife's ashes in our woods this week as per her wishes. She loved those woods so. Your're right about it not being fair. It isn't the normal course of events. The boys want to make me breakfast for tomorrow. I'll bet that means Poptarts and donuts. :) Best wishes, Doc

Major flooding in Houston! How is everyone doing?

Glad people are okay. We lived in a few different places in Louisiana. When we were in the Lake Charles area, I remember seeing on the news about areas of Houston flooding everytime they got quite a bit of rain. Flooding has got to be one of the worst things to go through. We got a taste of it when we lived south of Erath, LA right after Hurricane Rita hit and then the storm surge rolled in. Our kids school had 6ft of water and we couldnt even get to our house for a week after we evacuated because it was south of the school. There was a little graveyard near the school and some of the crypts/coffins were damaged and open. Completely nuts! Everything is so gross afterwards too. Safety of people and pets were the most important thing. The rest, while devastating, not so much. I drove down to pecan Island which flooded even worse, about a week afterwards. There were houses and parts of them strewn everywhere. I took lots of pictures so our kids could remember everything. Some of people actually setting thier house on fire, i guess, because they were so damaged from the flooding.

How is everyone doing with their trees inside??

I brought my satsuma inside for the night only, and a lizard must have hitched a ride on it. Took 30 minutes to get him/her/it back outside. I have often seen the lizard laying on the leaves when watering the tree. I should have inspected the tree better before carrying it in.

Doing well here. FINALLY got the shock fixed! Guess you would say it turned out to be electric company issue. A friend came down from PA that was electrician and when I was telling him about it he called a friend of his to find out what to do. (Seems shocking occurs at times in dairy farms that have auto waters and our friend remembered the guy who had told him about fixing them.) Took me many many calls and lots of talking to get them to get the part to go on the transformer on the light pole, but it fixed the shock! (Think it was like electricity traveling back up the ground or something like that!) We will fell a tinge occasionally but nothing like before!
BTW, I do thank you for all your help and have wished many times that I had followed every single one of your recommendations!!! I lived and learned!

I'm sorry I didn't see your thread on the shocking. It would have been a loose neutral in either your power distribution panel, the watthour meter, or at the stepdown transformer.

Hi Muddy!
We in CT are digging out as we've had snow twice a week since 12/26/10. Just saw the forecast and not only do we expect a wallop tomorrow but Sat and next Tues as well! I'm so glad my husband gave me a roof rake for Christmas... of course I nearly hit him over the head w/ it as what wife wants a roof rake for a gift? But now folks are scurrying around like ants searching for them and I'm feeling quite superior!!!!

At least we have lots of fresh water., We can ski. We have shade trees.

We don't have scorpions, lizards, or rattlers or strong earthquakes.

We have some great slopes here, and of course right next door.
I can snow ski, and water ski on the same day.
No real earthquakes here, got to get closer to cal for any of that.
Only natural disaster might be flooding.
Scorpions are cute.

WoW! Here's a bunch of folks I remember! I haven't logged on here in a very long time.
Gotta agree with just-a-pb, we have lots of good things going on in AZ, but I can't say that scorpions are cute - UGH!
I logged on to get some landscape ideas, we lost quite a bit in the freeze this year. That's when AZ is tough - 115 in the summer and down in the 20's in the winter - my landscape is a mess.
