Poor Mac

I took our Chihuahua to have his teeth cleaned yesterday. They told me no food til this morning. He had nothing to eat after 10 pm Tuesday and was hungry a couple hours after I got him home, I gave him a couple teaspoons of food and he ate. They did pull one tooth. Nothing for pain came home with him.

This morning I knew he'd be hungry as a bear, gave him the soft Beneful from the little containers and he won't eat! He took one small piece and then stood over the food and turned his head and hung it down low. I know he wants to but he must be in pain.

Our vet comes MWF no vet here today. Now I am not sure if I got pain pills if I could get him to take them!

Poor little guy. He's such a love bug. I feel bad for him.

Poor Baby! I hope you can get hold of someone so he can get some relief! Let us know how he does.

When Tassie got her teeth pulled (all but 2!) she didn't eat for about 2 days.Just make sure he has water and probably by tomorrow,you won't even know he got anything done.He'll be back to his little ornery Chi self! LOL!You could give him a baby aspirin,that's what they told me to give Tass.I had to put them down her throat,she wouldn't eat anything with it in.Hope Mac soon feels better!

ksfarm girl, Regarding safety, you've asked a question that really no one can answer but yourself. Whether or not synthetic chemicals are safe is an ongoing debate on practically any fruit/gardening forum in existence. On these forums it boils down to a belief system, or philosophy, more than anything else. Things like - do you trust the EPA's current safety guidelines regarding pesticides, or what level of risk do you take in different areas of your life (and everything has risk - even eating at a restaurant) are factors people generally answer philosophically. My personal standpoint is that I trust the EPA (even though there have been mistakes in the past). Testing and technology have improved significantly, so I have no problem using a pesticide as labeled. The same scientific methodology that says it's safe for the public to eat a given amount of pesticide residue on fruits and vegetables is the same that says it's safe to coat your children with the pesticide Deet (for mosquitoes), which is the same that says it's safe to enter a sprayed area after the re-entry interval (I think the re-entry interval for Triazicide is 12 hrs., but check the label.) I'm sorry this isn't much help, but it's a question you'll have to answer yourself.

Hmmm...well at lest your DH has a GIRLFRIEND...mine has 2 BOYFRIENDS! He has Mic (Min Pin) and Rover (Mutt) plus the other 5 but they are his 2 favorites. 3 of the other 5 are girls though.Us women are out numbered in this house...5 females to 8 males that's counting the cats and 2 bettas. LOL! Would love to see a pic of your DH's new girlfriend....maybe someone can tell us how to get a phone pic on here,I'm clueless about it. Enjoy your Hubby's new GF and try not to get TOO jealous! LOL! This is how he watches football games...two of the girls are in this pic too and notice Ricky on the back of the couch...LOL!

Gary, I do not have a refractometer but I will assume those that are not as well colored have less sugar from what I can taste. A good reason to prune heavily to allow proper air flow and sunlight into the canopy. Even with good pruning the best colored and tastiest apples are always at the top of the tree or the edges of the scaffold branches. The fruit in the center or bottom of the tree will be less colored,less flavorful and will usually ripen up to a week later than the fruit in the sun. I would use the fruits with poor color for cooking or cider and those colored well for fresh eating. Commercial orchardists do the same and either sell the poorly colored fruit as "seconds" or squeeze them for juice.

BTW that voluminous Var Macro from Ebay ( the "Bad Boy" Tawny referenced ) rotted en route (sniff sniff whimper noise) :( .Unfortunately he was a Tragic Victim of Potting Soil that was Beyond Betty Crocker Moist , Compounded by some Cooler. Crueler Temps that occured while in Transit ...Sigh Definitely needed to go to a Special Support Group after that lingering loss ( i.e. It'll haunt me interminably & will join the ranks of " The Hoyas that Got Away",. <<< A County Western tribute to Stephen Sondheim ) :) especially since acquiring a Var. Macro of that Magnitude & Magnificence was tantamount to the Hoya Holy Grail for moi :( Anyway ( Back to our regularly scheduled program already in digress/ regress ) regarding one's Favourite Hoya , for now my Densifolia will have to lay claim ( she's # 1 on my Hoya Hit Chart) , and it doesn't hurt that she's usually packin' a plethora of peduncles & umbels galore) :) P.S I Can generally only photograph her from one side due to lighting challenges ( She's not the Mariah Carey of plants, I promise :) .... ..

Get a jar of baby food turkey or chicken. He can just lick it up right off the spoon. That is what I feed my chihuahua Sissi when she's sick and won't eat anything else. I always keep a couple jars on hand, when she is sick and wont' eat anything else she goes crazy over the baby food. I just get the meat, not with veggies or anything else mixed with it. Chihuahua's have very sensitive systems and they will crash quick if they don't eat. I hope your little guy is better soon. .Debbie

When our little white cat had her ears removed due to cancer she was just miserable. We also went with baby food- worked like a charm. I am sure Mac will be so much better by tomorrow, but try the baby food in the meantime.

Poor Mac. Another vote for the baby food, Connie, I can always get our furkids to eat a bit of it. When my Tiff was sick I made it into a slurry by thinning it a bit low sodium chicken broth.

Good ideas. Baby food (meat)and cottage cheese is what my vet told me to feed my 6 week old poodle.

I'm on my way to the grocery store. I've tried 3 more times to fed him the soft stuff and its a beef stew type food. It even has barley in it and veggies! LOL All he will do is pick up a chunk of meat and drop it on the floor and try to rub on it!!!!! Silly goofy dog!

Never doubt the wisdom of KT'ers!

I am back from the store, I bought a little jar (my gosh they are half the size they used to be!) of turkey and gravy. Grossssssss looking. Mac was lapping it off the paper plate before I could even get it out of the jar! He snarfed it up pronto and wanted MORE and even licked out the jar!
Thank you to all that mentioned it!

Connie~ who will now be going back to the grocery store cause she was so sure Mac wouldn't eat it she only bought one jar! LOL

Poor little Mac!!

I never would have thought of baby food either! Thank heavens for the KT. Years ago I had a cat who got tonsilitis of all things.
She would take a bite of food, and yelp in pain and run under the bed.

After my dog had her teeth cleaned, my vet recommended I give her some ice chips to lick. Not a lot of water, and no food for a few hours. The ice would help with any pain or swelling. That was 2 weeks ago. She was fine by the following morning. Hope this helps.
