Loribee--That is a beautiful room. It looks like a magazine picture. I was at Home Goods today and saw similar lamps. So, speaking of Home Goods, I bought a black lamp there just to try for color and shape. If I would keep this lamp, I would have to buy a new shade because the shade that comes with it has a silver and black design on the inside and when the lamp is lit, doesn't provide much light in the room. Then I stopped at Goodwill and actually found a lamp I had looked at last week was still there!! I like this lamp (for $7.00!!) and will keep it regardless of whether or not I use it in the bedroom. It, of course, didn't come with a shade or even a harp, but I'd rather choose my own shade anyway. Please note, the shade I put on the lamp is just one from another lamp around the house and I know it is too small. I know many are encouraging me to go with a pop of color with the lamps, but there's still a part of me that likes the soft, relaxing cream and black in the room. Also, I think the pictures don't show the true relation of the size of the headboard to the size of the lamps. The two I just posted are both around 28" tall and seem pretty good to my IRL eye. Any opinions on the latest two choices???

Barb: Just google "Wildwood lamps". Several online dealers have them. I'm sure the online dealers would answer any of your questions by phone. As far as Sedgefield goes, we paid over $250 for one of their lamps and within 18 months, the paint at the base began flaking off in huge chunks. I have never, in 37 years of marriage, ever had anything like this happen. So much so, the whole bottom of the lamp will have to be sanded down to repaint. I contacted Bellacor, from whom I purchased it, and sent detailed pictures. They were very responsive and checked with Sedgefield. BTW, Sedgefield's website states they stand behind their products. The lamp is in our weekend home and is always covered with a sheet. Worse than that, it had never even been plugged in since my husband had not yet put the floor plug in. Sedgefield's response was that we must have used some type of cleaning product on the lamp, and would not do anything about it. Not even a suggestion or an offer of matching paint. I like the tortoise shell one the best with the shade that comes with it. I like the lines of the shade. Red does give it that added punch and can always be added later--but for now I'm still focusing on the basics. I also like the table lamp with that collection: It's different and yet the same. There was a much cheaper one on sale at JC Penny's for $79 (a Tuscan style bronze with a crackle glaze ceramic in a gold/cream); but they were out of stock, though I have one on hold at another store. I looked online but could not find it. I looked at some of the porcelain ones at Lamps Plus, but they are pretty pricy. Since I do have the recessed lights (on dimmers), I'm thinking of putting just one table lamp near the sofa and one floor lamp where you placed it. Where you have the table put near the entry is almost floating in the entry and will be a bit difficult routing the wiring etc. so that cords are not visable--esp. if I go with a smaller 8x10 rug which I am considering for financial reasons. I'm thinking maybe a set of tall candle sticks (like I had put recently on top of the piano) may look good on that other table. As for the artwork, I like fewer larger pictures. I feel that was my problem in the past my artwork was not large enough. I would like one mantle painting and one painting over the piano (which can even be larger as there is more wall space above the piano than the mantle. Then some grouping of smaller pictures on the other walls. I like the set of four pics you put together to the left of the fireplace and over the ottoman. One other thing with the room is that I plan to put my Christmas tree there as well in which case I would probably put it in the corner with the palm, move the palm out and rearrange the chairs for the season.

The quilt shown in the pic above is soon to be switched over to my "spring/summer" quilt but I'm waiting for the room to be painted, which will be within the next 2 weeks. I've decided on Revere Pewter, which is the same as our master bath. I never even considered keeping those lamp shades, just to be clear. I bought the lamps for the base.
