It's Friday!

It is Friday and I am off and running, or maybe more like hobbling. Amber picked Izzi and me up and we went into town. Gas here is anywhere from $2.04 nine to $2.09 nine, here in central Indiana.

We went to 4 rummage sales. We hit a good sale on books for $.25 each and I got a couple of larger cookbooks for $1.50 each and lots of Taste of Home and Quick Cooking magazines for $.10 each. I got 37 magazines. Amber got some Nora Roberts books and I got some other authors. I got a lot and I only spent $8.00. Now to find time to read. I need to get my library straightened up.

We drove out back and walked part way as it is too soft and looked at the garden. Can still see the radishes and now onions are up. No sign yet of the potatoes. We have had so much rain things are sort of beaten down. The dogs, especially Izzi had fun running free. Of course she has to make a mad dash back through the muddy garden.

We looked at the ponds and they are nice and clear. The water lillies are up. We noticed the bleeding heart is starting to bloom. Also the black raspberrys have little leaves on them.

Last evening our son in law looked for morels, but no sign of them yet. I am not sure what I am going to work at today, but sure want to try to get as much as I can done. I know laundry is on the list since I am upstairs I will do that first. Later I will puppy sit for Amber and her husband Mike.

Now tell me what you have been up to so far. The KT is running so very slow for me, it will take this thing forever to post. Hope all are having a sunny day!

I'm so glad it's Friday. I have a full, long day of work ahead of me, but I'll plow through it and be glad and pooped when it's over. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend when I can get back to my knitting. It's going to be warm, summery weather here.

My DS got me a new computer for Mothers' Day! I'll take it out of the box and research how to get it set up. Or I might have to wait for him to come help me.

Have a great weekend, Sue. Haven't heard that expression "rummage sale" in quite a while, but that's we always used to call "garage sales. You seem like a busy, happy person!

I'm at work today and can't wait to get home tonight. DH got my art room all set up and I am ready to paint! I have a Cat painting and 5 Celtic Knot paintings to start.

Happy Friday to all of you! The Xmas party sounds like fun, Sharon, and I think it's smart to plan it early, things book up so fast! Alexa, have fun at the TS party. I hate those things, too, but TS really does have some good stuff! Yikes, Karen! Just reading about all your Xmas partying makes me tired too! I am sure you'll have fun attending as well as hosting! Nancy, I am with ya on the skipping Xmas thing. It's gonna be a lean one this year, that's for sure! I got word this afternoon that my new boss (of 6 whole weeks) has to cut me back to 2 days a week. Why in the he!! did she hire anotehr person if she couldn't afford one? And it's not like she's paying me great wage or anything. Sorry....didn't mean to vent. Good thing I kept my foot in the door at the hospital. I can pick up a few extra days there until I figure out what to do. To those of you nursing loved ones, I raise my glass to you. It's especially difficult to take care of men when they are out of sorts...LOL Tomorrow I am taking part in a local jewelry show and sale. Hopefully I can sell a lot of my dichroic and beaded jewelry and make some extra Xmas money. After that I am off to a friend's house for an overnight crafting party. I am "glassed and beaded out" so I am bringing some card-making supplies. Time to do some paper crafting for a while.... Happy weekend! The economy sucks, but life is still good. (clink!) Linda

Nancy has it right. We are at the cottage so much that it is becoming a real chore to manage the house and Gardens here. I can only take a week or two at a time at the cottage during the winter. so we intend to buy a condo in Toronto, right in the city, in an area called Bloor West Village. We will be at the cottage from April until September, and plan to travel September/October. The condo will be home base from November to April with lots of trips to the cottage. Well that's the plan anyway but first we have to sell the house. Big change!!!!

YEAH you did it. I wish i had pics of my first loaves from 35 yrs ago !! You rock. It does take practice kneading and shaping. I have made two tutorials and will post them tomorrow. I have taken LOTS of pics and will make slideshows and then you will see. I made both the Challah which just this minute came out of the oven and I made the Sunflower Whole Wheat bread...there are errors in the recipe I posted so I will also correct those....I just hope that jterri doesn't KILL me :) I had to add water and leave out flour. I can only say that when I thought back it has been 25 years since I made it so who knows how things have changed ! Anyway ...tomorrow is Friday #2....looking forward. c

I know I am never bored! They always list the sales in our paper as "rummage sales", I guess that covers yard sales and garage sales. Isn't it great to get a new computer! Mine is about a month or more old now. I really like it. It sounds like you are going to have some fun things to do also SamKaren.

Just found out our son in law, Bill is in the emergency room. He had a place lanced on his back a few days ago and apparently not all is well. Daughter Terri says he may have to be hospitalized for a couple of days. I will know more later. He is diabetic. I really need to get up from here and get things going. It is so slow on here!

You've been busy this morning Sue, sorry to hear about your SIL.

I've tried to find morel mushrooms, years ago when we lived in the hills. Never did find any, but one of the ex's uncles used to sell us some. Love, them and been wanting to go to a Kentucky mushroom festival but I keep missing it because of work. Finally, there is one in Indiana in early May that I'm planning on going to. It's in a state park and they take you to where they grow and you hunt them on your own. Haven't had one in 8 or 9 years!

I got up this morning and got my hair cut. I'm supposed to be cleaning the house, got a load of laundry washed and dishes soaking so I can load them into the dishwasher. My daughter's having a party tomorrow. The number of kids have grown to 15 or 16!!! Most of them are only staying till 10:00 and about 6 girls are spending the night. I thought about putting up the tent in the backyard, my hairdresser gave me the idea this morning.

I called a lawn mowing service and they are coming in an hour or so to give me an estimate on mowing the lawn. Couldn't get ahold of the guys I normally use. I'd do it myself but I have so much to do in the house. I'm also going to get an estimate on taking out three little trees. My redbud is over half dead, the only part that's blooming is the trunk that's laying on the ground. I really love that tree but it's got to go. Also getting rid of what looks like a birch tree, it's still small and it's going to be way too big for my backyard. Then there's one tall skinny something growing up on the corner of the house out front, I've tried to dig it up but can't.

Well, going to read a sec and get back to cleaning. Have to steam clean my daughter's room, mop the kitchen floor and clean up here in the livingroom still. Bake her cake later this evening. And I have to go grocery/snack shopping.
