I only have a lowes near me so, Valspar is what paint I toy with.

It's called redstone blue #4003-6b

It's the 3rd over and 3rd down

When I hear your description I think of Benjamin Moore's Solitude... beautiful blueish/gray that I am thinking of painting my craft room.

How about "Ocean" from The French General?

Graywritingdog, I love that color! in fact I think I have a little chip of it somewhere. Maybe taped on my dining room wall. I've never used Valspar though, do you like it?

kmcg85 & annz, the paint on those websites is to die for. I have never used French General or Devine, have you all tried them? They look gorgeous. I think the blue on the FG site is just a little too dark or navyish, but beautiful nonetheless.

Jerseydina, thanks for the suggestion. I love those bluish/greenish/grayish colors. I think it's a little grey for my dining room, but I'll keep it in mind for other rooms, which also desperately need painting! It's a great neutral.

And rilie, love, love, love those colors. Especially Windsor Haze. Very close to what I'm looking for. Don't know how I missed that one at Home Depot.

OK, so now I need to go spend lots of money and buy samples of these so I can decide!

Also, was thinking of painting the ceiling in there with color (I'm getting wild). Should I use the same wall color or the same color but one shade lighter?

Don't know if it's what you want, but I think it's a beautiful blue. In that Valspar link above, seach for Stonewashed. It's an Eddie Bauer Color. I just painted my guest bath that color. W/ 2 coats, it's definitley blue, but I love it!

Thanks straitlover. I really like the Stonewashed (and many of the other Eddie Bauer colors). Does it look dark like a navy blue? My 3 favorites so far (all from Lowes) are: Martha Stewart's Blue Corn Tortilla, Eddie Bauer's Mercer Blue (though a little green), and the Waverly Payne's Gray. Can't decide - have to get some samples.

How did you like using the Valspar? I've never used it before.

Try Ellen Kennon's Sapphire in her Magical Gems palette. The picture doesn't do it justice--it is an incredibly deep rich color that changes slightly with light exposure at different times of the day due to the full-spectrum property of it.

No, the Stonewashed doesn't look navy-ish. It is not as gray-blue as it looks on the website, either. If you go get the sample chip at Lowes, you can see the true color. W/ my 2 coats, I can hold the chip up and you don't even see it, so the chip color is very accurate.

I picked it because it matched a stripe in the new shower curtain and was a color in my inspirational art print I had found at Kohls (a cool beachy still life print in a gloss white frame w/ little sailboat, hydrangea blossoms, starfish, etc arranged on a shelf). I wanted a subtle beachy feel in the room. It's not in your face w/ seashells and lighthouses everywhere. :)

Oh, forgot to address the Valspar issue. The Eddie Bauer colors are mixed in the Signature Line of paints. I liked painting with it. I just wish I had gotten eggshell instead of satin. There's no window in that bathroom, so the satin really reflects the light, and you can really see the wall imperfections (paint drips from the original builder, patched spots that they spackled and sanded over so they are smoother than the surrounding wall, etc). I am going to be chainging out the light fixture soon, and the globes won't be clear, so I'm hoping that will help a little. Heck, most people probalby won't notice anyway!

But I do like the paint. And, they were running a rebate at the time, so I got a $5 rebate on the gallon, of which I have half left. Anyone need a small bathroom painted? LOL!

Last year I painted Benjamin Moore's "sunrise" in our master bath, and just finished painting "airway" (one shade lighter) in another room. I love the way both colors came out, but it took a LONG time to find the right blue for the bathroom - most were too purple once I painted the whole room.
