thanks, I'll do that. I was hoping there was some way to rig it to be OK for a short ride. Waiting to hear from the seller if they have the locks or not. I suppose if I don't hear by mid day tomorrow I'll just call bosch and get some sent. We're supposed to pick them up this weekend, but I don't see why it couldn't wait for these parts. I do know that the seller has already installed a bigger W&D set. I hope they put in the locks before moving them. If they did not, should we pass on this deal? ($500 for the set, only 3 ish years old.)

Plllog, the Little Giant by Miele is a cold fill only, but has a tremendous sized heater and is 240v, so it can heat that water. It cost almost 5K IIRC. The regular Mieles are now 110v and have 1000watt heaters so I believe they need the hot fill to get the temps up to specs in a reasonable amount of time. I have a newer (2013) Miele 110v washer that I love and it is hooked up with both hot and cold water. Recently, I bought a used set built in 2003, that is a 240v unit, and I also have it hooked up to both hot and cold. There are some that say my used unit could be used for cold fill only, and the instructions state that too. But the appliance repair man that I bought it from suggested I let my household water heater do the heating. So that is what I have done. He is a certified Miele tech so I listened.

The thing is, though, if you move it to the side of the sink, you'll still have the dead space because you'll need room to stand in front of it to load and unload...Moving the sink won't really get you much either.. If I was in your position, I would just utilize that corner better/prettier (if that's your thing) with some shelving. Looks like you can gain exactly 2 inches if you shove the whole thing to the left. I would do that as I would want as much room as I could squeeze out.

We did it in our old Victorian house for pennies. We turned a closet in the bathroom that was behind the tub (!!!) into a laundry closet with a stackable. Complete DIY job and I would definitely do it again. Our only "problem" was that the pipes up there couldn't handle the flow of water as fast as it came out of the washer. So the draining washer water backed up into the bathtub, which filled with about 6 inches of dirty water during a load until draining out. It never caused the tub to look dirty or left a ring or anything. We just lived with it as a quirk and I absolutely LOVED not having to lug clothes up and down to the yucky old basement via the yucky old non-standard basement stairs. The draining is something to really understand before you start demolishing your setup. We had no problem selling that house--everyone wants convenient laundry access and no one cared about the draining into the tub thing in this Victorian town. The hardest part was getting the stackable up the curving Victorian stairs. My husband and his friend almost toppled and killed themselves doing that. Just make sure you have a disaster plan in place--as for any 2nd floor laundry-- if something breaks or overflows, you don't want water all over going into the ceiling of the floor below. Use the best fittings that last (no plastic), the tray, etc..
