Madison, Princess and Bruvver make cookies

OK, so I've finally gotten around to it. Two days before Christmas we made cookies. Madison was happy to hold the scraper for me, I think she was ready to lick the bowl, but Aunt Amanda thought it might be a bad idea. Spoil sport...

The Princess got a new hat. Well, I bought it, I just couldn't help myself. Gray fur and silver sequins, all wrapped up in the bomber hat. She loved it.

So, we started pretty traditional, with frosting and colored sugar and sprinkles:

Then Bruvver branched out into M&Ms and Christmas candy corns:

Makayla decided that a cookie rendition of Angry Birds would be a good idea:

Madison appeared to like that one quite a lot, smiling from her supervisory position:

While they were busy with the candy, I made Diane's cuccidati, but Makayla thought they were too plain with just white glaze, so they got red and green sugar too:

by the end fo the day we'd made chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, maraschino and white chocolate shortbread, molasses cookies and two kinds of fudge as well as a dark chocolate and espresso cookie from Martha Stewart which everyone despised and we ended up throwing out. Oh, and some chex mix and puppy chow and pizza for lunch and Elery made a pan of baklava. Yeah...

They are so talented. Goes to show, you can have your art and eat it too.

Wow. To all of it! Madison is lovely. I haven't snuggled a tiny baby in a LONG time.

I do like the angry bird though I know nothing of the game. Pass me the pan...er...a piece of baklava, please.

Eileen, that was the ever-present "veggie pizza", my daughters love the stuff. Bake a crust out of crescent roll dough. Yeah, the stuff in the can, LOL. Mix a brick of cream cheese with a cup of mayo and some dry ranch dressing mix. I don't measure, just dump the dressing mix in, stir and taste until it's good. Top with fresh vegetables of your choice, chopped into pieces small enough to eat easily. Mine usually has cauliflower, broccoli, some green onions, carrots, red peppers. Even the kids gobble it down, go figure. I made it once with homemade pizza dough and no one wanted it. Back to the canned crescent rolls. (grin) Annie

Lou, yes I remember the bread basket with egg. It was the sweet bread dough. I see on the other thread you made it and it looks great. Did you ever make the noodle pudding with Anisette/anise flavoring? Thanks Terri, I think I'm the lucky one with her putting up with me for all these years. lol. Your helpers have such concentration putting the jelly beans on those cupcakes and love the pic of your helper chowing on the peep bunny. Cathy, $4 a flat......... swoon. I must say that Plant City has enabled me to have my banana strawberry smoothies year round these days and I love it. Our Acme will have sales of the quarts 2 for $5 and that's pretty good, but then they also come on sale $4 buy one get one free. That's when I stock up for my smoothies. Between you and David, now I want some strawberry shortcake though. On biscuits with unsweetened whipped cream.

Kevin is in the red shirt, and he was 16 when that photo was taken. Our sister had a perm at the time, which she only had for a short time. Di, I have been blond at times - I was very blond as a child, and then when I turned 50 I decided to go back to blond, as my natural color by then was very close to platinum blond, and it was easy to keep up. I stopped dying my hair a few years ago, but I used to dye it much darker in the 1980s, sort of in keeping with that decade. It was close to a natural color in that photo, however. I think a photo of you in a bikini on a tractor sounds very interesting... It does not sound crazy to me at all. Lars

jvanderh, the trick to pink macaroni and cheese is to put food coloring in the water when you bake the pasta, and more food color into the cheese sauce. Oh, and it helps to use white cheddar, gruyere and asiago, they're strong enough to taste like cheese, they melt well and they're white, LOL. Madi (Ashley tells me it's NOT Maddie, LOL) started walking at about 10 months old. She's in a hurry and runs everywhere. Her mother was a "climber", I remember her pulling out drawers and climbing up like a ladder so she could sit on the counter and eat the butter. Ahem. The first thing Madi did with one of the presents was drag it over to a chair and use it as a step to get onto the chair and then onto the table where the cake pops were. Good luck with your new little one, Tricia. They're just so much fun. What am I going to do next year? Ashley is pregnant again, due in August. Since Bud is the only boy on both sides of the family, we're hoping for a boy cousin for him. The girls are "too bossy", he says. (grin) Sharon, they are growing too fast. (sigh) Both Bud and Makayla will still sit on my lap, but they're getting too darned big to fit. Makayla is now 4'5". My Mother is 4'9". The Monkey Princess is working hard to outgrow the "Little Grandma". She's going to outgrow ME pretty soon. I'm sad... Annie

Every time I see these pictures I think I need to get baking with my kids. If only I could get myself to enjoy it! Great pictures; thanks for sharing.

Arabella Miller, I'm so glad to see you again, I've missed you. I supposed the boys are keeping you hopping...

thank you, everyone, for the nice coments. i've baked cookies with the kids since Ashley was sitting on the counter in footie pajamas and before that I baked cookies with my nieces and nephews, I've always loved it. Having a new "boss", just makes it more fun, by next year she'll be licking the fudge pans.

Teresa, The Princess definitely is a fashion icon, LOL. It's hard to see, but the vest she has on is blue sequins, she loves the sparkly stuff. so much that when her mother allowed her to keep a stray cat that was hanging around, she named it "Sparkle".

I love your annual Christmas Cookie bake with the Princess and Bruvver. Each year the cookies look more perfect.

Beautiful family. Some things never change. Love the "Supervisor Princess" and the fashionista. Glad Bruvver hasn't gotten too cool for decorating cookies with the girls.

Hell hath no fury like a toothless baby, in a cookie factory, scorned.

According to sweet Madison's expression (7th photo), there won't by any parleying regarding her cookie quota, this year...but wait until her bottom toothies come in.

I think your princess and mine would be a hoot together critiquing fashion. 4 year Lily informed me that my toe polish was too dark. The next day she said "Grammy, your hair looks kinda...crazy."

Ann T, it wouldn't do her any good to get any "ideas", the doctor took care of that after Bud. Somehow, he was enough, LOL.

kathy, I think it would be be a ball to get a bunch of the forum "kids" together. Except they'd probably spend all their time talking about how weird all us grownups are.

sorry LindaC, not even a taste. She was 17 days old in that picture and her mother is still pretty picky about what she eats, LOL, if you can imagine.

Sol, next year she gets all the cookies and fudge she wants.

Pam, if sugar, cookies, frosting, sprinkles and candy are involved, i don't think Bruvver will ever get so cool that he won't get involved!

Jessic, I kind of liked that cookie too, it started out as a bell and became an angry bird. It's creative, for sure.
