Grills like a pro and expressed a desire to make belgian waffles and pizza?

I bought him a G5 and I'm thinking he'll return it when he finds out I bought him a Cuisiart Brick oven.

I'm keeping all the receipts.

Fun to un wrap though :)

A brief repeat of the basics: The hood should overhang the cooking zone such that a 45-degree expanding cone from each pot, wok, or pan is intercepted by the hood. The flow rate (corrected for pressure losses) should be at least the aperture area (square feet) of the hood times 3 feet per second times some guess factor ( less than 1.0 ) that accounts for baffle effectiveness in increasing air velocity in the baffles close vicinity and for interior hood shape. Conservatism in performance would assume the factor is one, while conservatism in price and visual obtrusiveness would hope for 0.5, perhaps. Actual flow rate for typical installations may be only 2/3 that for which the blower is rated at zero static pressure, even with an active make-up air system. Duct size at full power should allow the air velocity to be 500 to 1500 feet per minute depending on, respectively, whether the ducting is in a warm environment or cold environment. Make-up air always equals what gets out through the hood. The goal is to supply this without drawing it from wall switch covers, window seal leakage, and backdrafting of furnaces, hot water heaters, and fireplaces. For high flows this requires a system that is at a minimum passive, and at a maximum uses PID control to keep the house pressure constant at a very small negative pressure independent of fan speed or use of other fans, appliances, and fireplaces. Although my hood is a Wolf, made by Independent, there have been several kudosi given to ModernAire on this forum, who will be happy to build a tailor-made configuration. An external blower and intermediate silencer will minimize kitchen noise. kas

I like your idea of shouting your reply to an "associate" in a store (read, "salesperson") when they approach you with an introductory question! And telling your reason, of course. Including, of course, it's effect on you. If on my leaving his store with empty hands a manager gave me the gears (especially if done in a loud voice), I'd turn back and walk right up to him, telling him that when I'm looking for a major purchase, I want to check out the various possibilities at length before deciding to purchase. And that, in the light of what he had just done, the possibility of my returning to his store had just slipped down several notches ... that I'd be likely to return only on condition that he was offering something that I really wanted very badly. Otherwise ... his store was, as of now, out of the running. And may you have a good day, sir ... I wouldn't want to leave you on a note of rudeness! ole joyful

How could I forget country singer, Josh Turner? He was co-host in the last hour of the Today Show this morning...I'm so glad I saw it. Not only is he easy on the eyes, but he also has such a strong bass singing voice and his deep speaking voice is beyond charming. :)

Oh good grief! Could this actually be true? I don't really care because it gave me a really good laugh. My husband heard me chuckling and came in to share the joke with me. He didn't have the same reaction as me. He just sort of snorted, grimaced and left the room....must be a sensitive subject for the guys! Anyway, thanks for the laugh Annie. Cheers, Dee.

I love my George Foreman. I use it for Waffles all the time.

How about a set of grill tools? Grilling cookbook? I like the spice blend.

I saw that brick oven in a Linens N Things and and it piqued my interest. Looks better than the current batch of toaster ovens out there.

Doesn't it Jess? It's a 199 less 20% and you get a $20 LNT gift card [at Linens and Things] and free shipping.

The spice blend sounds good, he has every conceivable tool. I tried to get a bbq light but the one I wanted has vanished.

A G5 is the latest George Foreman grill, removable dishwasher safe plates including a waffle iron plate, otherwise they could keep it! lol

My DH grills our turkey at Thanksgiving and it is awesome. He also grills a lot during other times. His grill is right off the kitchen and I consider it an extension of the kitchen!

I was in Williams-Sonoma a few weeks before TG, and got him a remote thermometer so that he wouldn't keep opening up the grill to check the turkey temp.

The thermometer worked great! From inside the kitchen, we watched the remote and we could watch the temp rise. When it was within 5 degrees, it said "your food is almost ready"!

We bought a pretty cool light last summer at Barbeques Galore. I'm sure they have a mail order dept. It clips on to the shelf and has a flexible goose neck. It looks something similar as to the one in the photo, but is flexible. That way we can bend it down and not detach it when the bbq cover is put on.

AM, I'll vouch for their spices and their great customer service.

I used to buy Penzey's, but no more. Since they started opening all those stores, I find Penzey's just isn't as good as they were ten years ago. TSH has about 80% of the same blends (Guess their daddy made them negotiate on that and share).
