I saw that article too and thought of Monique and Ollie and Misty and Max Also, youve got to wonder what kind of care those Rottweilers were getting if the owners werent aware they were gone 18 hours later! Theres no surer way to turn your dogs into aggressive, dangerous animals than to banish them from the house where their human pack lives and confine and isolate them in the yard guaranteed to produce an anti-social, aggressive dog. The only positive thing in that story is that the owners gave the dogs up to the authorities without a fight. I suspect the owners were more ignorant than deliberately trying to create aggressive dogs. Ignorance is tragic for the dogs, the owners and the dogs victim and family! Definitely report the dog Monique. If the appropriate authorities where you live are like ours here, they cant do much unless the dog has been reported and they have an on-going record of the problems. Max, the dog who attacked Misty, was well known to the Humane Society and his owners had been fined many times. After the incident with Misty (witnessed and reported by a neighbour, documented by the vet who treated her wounds copied to the Humane Society, wounds photographed by us and sent to the Humane Society) the Humane Society finally put a Biting Dog Order against the owners. Any future incidents of the dog running loose will cost them $5,000 I suspect the real purpose is the potential of the fine is supposed to give them incentive to put the dog down themselves. From our experience and the news article that GB posted, it appears that the Humane Society around here can only force euthanasia if the dog bites a person. Maybe its the same where you are Monique but at least report it so that the authorities have a record and can take whatever action they can under the laws that operate within.

Rosie- yes, I really do love the glazed white cabinets in my houzz ideabook and I had compromised with my husband by getting the maple cabinets. I really thought glazed white was entirely out of the question as far as he was concerned until his recent comment. But everything I was planning went with the stained look, so I am having a heck of a time changing gears and moving back to the white glaze. I also know I will have to deal with all of the silent "I told you so's" when every problem he predicted arises with the white lacquer. He really does want me to be happy with the kitchen, I think that is why he has had a change of heart... seosmp-I think we are probably looking at the same kitchen on Houzz, see below? LOVE LOVE LOVE that kitchen! I go back to it on a daily basis from multiple angles. This is part of my conflict, I want to re-create that kitchen as far as possible in my space...I even ordered corbels from Art for Everyday (but I ordered the wrong ones and they won't exchange) and my talented cabinet guy made a plain mantel the same basic shape (but it smacks my husband in the head when he is at the range, so there's no way I am putting it on now...we are cutting out an arch instead). It's true, I do love it, I sigh every time I look at it. Since I am not in love with any stain at this point, it does seem like at least the granite is the one sure fire pick I would not regret. suzannesl- If I say anything in 8-10 months about making a change, DH would absolutely divorce me (maybe not divorce, but certainly might move into the garage for awhile to avoid me! LOL) That's why I am so stressed, I want to get it right the first time. I'm sure that is a common sentiment during remodels... -Deep breath- I feel resolved. Besides our large fenced in yard, we have room enough between the island and stove top so he can be there and not trip me when making sure no spills are missed. Our master bedroom has plenty of room for his bed but of course he will choose to sleep with us unless it gets too hot. The master bath is large enough for him to come lay by the shower when I am in there, he likes to know where I am at all times. And the shower is large enough with a bench so we can sit and bathe him when needed. We may put a dog door in the dining room that will go out to the covered patio and out there he will have another dog bed to lay on when he doesn't want to lay in the grass or on the concrete. However he will NOT be allowed in the hot tub, silly pup. As much as I love the idea of my large wrought iron staircase being the gorgeous hardwood of my foyer I know it's safer for him to have carpet on it especially because of the landing halfway down that turns 90 degrees. He loves to run down stairs and I don't want him slipping and getting hurt. And speaking of hardwood yes will we have some but there will be area rugs for him to lay on. There is a valet area between the garage and house where his leash, harness, and other things will go. With a large bench so I can sit down and put his stuff on before walks or rides in the car. The garage is also large enough to not feel cramped when opening a door for him to get into the truck. The last thing I want to get is one of those inside carmeras you can set up to check on your dog and talk to them, any good suggestions for one?
