My first whole wheat bread

Well, not really but the first one I could eat. I have tried to make some before but most were referred to as a hockey puck, door stop, or just a brick.

I used a recipe posted by grainlady in 2008. I think it was originally from Mildred, a friend of hers. The recipe was tweaked some and I followed that pretty close. I am sure there are other good recipes and I plan on trying some.

I used 100% whole wheat. I milled my own flour from Prairie Gold wheat and followed the recipe pretty close, sponge also. One loaf developed a slight crack on top but I don't think they are too bad. Any suggestions from any of you experts appreciated. The dough did seem a little tight as I smoothed it out in the pans prior to baking. I initially put it in the oven to raise at about 105 degrees and I think it was a little more than double so I probably should have had the temp lower or watched a little closer.
