Jell-O Popcorn????

Have you heard of this? Another mom was talking about making this, I cant decide if it is going to be good like caramel Cheetoes or yucky!

If you like neon pink or green or purple artificially flavored food....you will love this.
And it's sticky because it's not cooked enough....and artificial tasting..
Believe me...it's Yucky!

Oh My, You Betcha!

Here's my recipe - but yours sounds better!

POPCORN BALLS

8 quarts of popped popcorn OR 2 bags of microwave popcorn

Mix and boil for 1 minute::
1 cup white karo corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1 small pak of any flavor of jello (strawberry in this household)

Just mix the 3 ingredients, boil for 1 minute then pour over popcorn.
Toss popcorn as pouring.
I use a heavy duty spatula to turn it and get all the good stuff off the bottom of the pan and on to the popcorn.

I went to the Jell-o site and looked for mold use info. I only found a reference to this one featured mold but the instructions are to spray lightly, one assumes with cooking spray. Here is a link that might be useful: Jell-o mold.

It's really tough to say how much asbestos it takes since some are exposed for a short time and get mesothelioma very quickly and at a young age. Others like my FIL are exposed daily at work for 40 years or more and don't get it until 50 years after first exposure. They do know that significant direct exposure over a long period of time makes it nearly certain. Many people have had some limited exposure without getting the disease. There are some factors like smoking that seem to hasten the onset of the disease. Hopefully your friends weren't exposed that much over too long a time. In your friend's situation and since they are so concerned I would recommend testing to see if they have had asbestos exposure. It's possible that there's nothing to worry about.

I used to make Blood and Gut Balls for Halloween every year -- until you couldn't pass out homemade anything anymore. I had a very popular house. The Blood Balls used red jello and Gut balls orange. It might be fun to make a little red and green for the Grandkids over the holidays. Thanks for reminding me.

My mom made them for us when we were kids and we considered it a VERY special treat. I remember loving them. Haven't had them as an adult, but you'll have no trouble getting kids to eat them.
