I'll get those pics posted! The advice I got today was not to hurry to prune off any freeze damage until we're sure the risk of freeze is over. We haven't had any freeze in so many years, it's hard to remember what to do! Although the days are in the 70's, it is so dry that the nights are around 40 and could dip down further. Lots of fire risk right now, and no rain, oddly. So much looks bad (I've got to replace those impatiens and oxalis!), especially now that we're pruning the roses. Only the camellias are bursting with blooms. So pictures of the garden will demonstrate that all is not glitter in tinseltown!! Did you know there's a rose group called the Tinseltown Rose Society? Anyway, yes, the kids keep me busy. And Kitty. And our turtle Lili (or Timmy, if it turns out to be a male) and our fish (especially mine, Howard). I also made the mistake of missing a meeting at my son's school, and next thing you know, I'm chairperson of the hospitality committee, running around to Costco to get munchies and flowers for community events, open house, etc. How did this happen? IT'S A NIGHTMARE!!!! (just kidding!) I'm never missing a meeting again. Oh, and there was the "Macbeth" performance. I made several costumes, including my son's (he played Macbeth) and had fun creating props (like a torch made out of PVC pipe with a PVC cup on the end, a little flashlight thing placed in the cup, surrounded by tin foil and yellow and red cellophane (for flames). We covered the entire thing with dark brown duct tape (did you know they make that?) and it looked great! We donated everything to the school for future productions. Next play: Greater Tuna. Don't ask. I still haven't put my sewing machine away. Probably because no one knew I had one and everyone was completely amazed at how well I faked being a seamstress. I loved all the adulation! Max's friends thought I was so cool, they want me to make them costumes for the next anime convention they're going to this weekend. Forget it! I'm a lawyer!!!

Hey Janie! Glad to hear that your MG plant sale went good for you all. I forwarded it to Ernie at the Extension Office, and she sent it out to all of our Aransas/San Patricio MG's. BTW, just to let you know that we are having our combined Fall Plant Sale and Hidden Gardens Tour on Saturday, September 29, 2007. Hopefully, it won't be the same weekend that you all decide to have your plant sale, but if you do, that's OK. After all, we are about 1 hours 20 minutes further down the coast from Edna. Herbs are the first things that go at our plant sales. At our Spring Plant Sale, March 17, we opened the gates at 9:00 a.m., and by 10:00 or so, almost all of the 57 flats of 4" potted herbs were gone. We order our herbs from Don Cox down in Brownsville. His wife, Debbie, is past president of the Cameron County MG's. Anyway, he does wonderful on herbs. We have never been disappointed. If you are interested in getting his telephone number, etc., just let me know and I'll email it to you. Do you have a propagation committee for the MG's? We do, and they are already busy getting plants propagated for the fall sale. It really helps by allowing us to make more money.

Please check out the post on the discussions forum for info on this swap.

ohhh I use to have a big old blind in the shed... i wonder if it is still there or if hubby threw it out, that is a good idea b/c i need something large enough to write the names for me to actually see! (I tried plastic knife / spoons once and no go, too small. Since these are garden flowers I want to eventually turn the markers into "garden art" with a purpose. I like the idea of beads on wire with beaded names, I could have nicer beads!!! of course there is painted rocks, but it would take time to find large enough rocks and then hand paint them all (and I would want a design along with the name) This is kind of a cute idea, maybe I could find other more normal garden type animals (birds, frogs, rabbits)
