Well, I think he's likely to do the public more good than Dr. Phil, although I say that without much experience listening to him. Even if he just convinces America to start eating more vegetables and fewer bad fats, that would be a good thing.

Yup...a long line of people whom Opah has played with, and made money from.
She sees a person, puts them on her show and tell her faithful followers that they are experts on a subject(which they are not), the last word on a subject...and then the book(s), public appearances and, finally the TV show...and she makes money off all of these endeavors because the people are represented by a company she owns.

You have to give it to her...she knows how to manipulate the public.

Be careful, you'll get slammed if you say one negative word about the divine Oprah. It's happened before. We're accused of being "jealous".

My opinion is that she is trying to bring educated, good people to the rest of us, and for that, I am appreciative. But don't worship her.

I do wonder if her endorsement of Obama helped his campaogn. I'm sure it did.

I have gotten tired of Phil and think he could turn into another Jerry Springer, but so far, I think Dr. Oz is right on. He can only be a help (but that's what I thought about Phil.)

She's probably donated more to charity and done more than the whole kt put together. I'm not the least jealous of her fame or fortune. If she can use it to help others, more power to her. Life aint fair, she's got the big bucks, I don't. I'm happy she uses her fame to do good things. She doesn't appear to be demanding of praise, that's the drive by media putting a spin on her IMO.

I don't put any stock into most of the entertainment area anyway. They already have way to many award shows. There are plenty of people in the back ground that deserve recognition that do good with out the hupla. I'm always going up and thanking locals that have done well. It doesn't matter if you have money (although it helps!) as long as a person moves, does something to make a difference in the way they know best. If Oprah likes to do it by getting OZ his own show, go for it.
By contrast there are scuzzes like Howard Stern stirring the feces and hardly a person flaps an eyelid, it really makes me wonder what kind of place the USA is. I think I know.

Dr Phil doesn't seem to be on up here in BC lately, was wondering if his show got cancelled. I rarely watch daytime tv so don't much care who Oprah is 'selling' on any given day, but I usually see what Dr Phil is chattering about on my day off...
As was commented in a thread recently, we all have our opinions on the lady, mine were clearly stated.
Don't know much about Oz, other than Dorothy, et al (lol) - so no opinion on him. One thing I will say about Oprah - because she's so recognizable, if she offered me a tv show I'd sure as heck grab it!

What Oprah does is not any different than her predecessors. People of fame, usually promote or endorse people they are impressed with.

Where would several now famous people be without Merv Griffin? Johnny Carson? Carl Rhiner? Just a couple of examples.

If I were famous like Oprah, you would all know my Mentor Ms. Harriet, one of the most amazing Black Woman I've ever known. Main Man would have his own Peoples Court. And you would "laugh" your butt off.

Oprah didn't create Dr. Oz. She recognize his charisma and potential. I'm glad to see him have his own show. I've learn many things since his "matter of fact" medical explanations.

I consider Dr. Phil to be knowledgeable and very witty. I like his since of humor. I don't like to watch the show, because of the "stupid" people and their illness and denial of situations. I want to jump up and slap them. LOL! Dr. Phil has gotten many people into therapy, who would have never sought help without being "outed".
