Michael J. Fox will be on Oprah tomorrow. Dr. Oz and he will be there to discuss his illness and Stem Cell Research.

Stem Cell Research is something I'm very interested in since I am Diabetic.

For those of you who don't care for Oprah, I think you might find this one interesting.

I'm very interested since both DH and I have immune diseases. I have kidney failure, hubby has MS. Sad to think all the time we "lost" during Bush presidency. My kidney doctor believes diabetes will be the first disease cured now that stem cell research can continue. That would be wonderful!

Michael is to be applauded for fighting the good fight and trying to make a difference for so many.

I just finished watching last nights Survivor...and Glenda...you didn't give it away, did you....I thought you shed tears for Taj because she got voted off.... I really wanted them to vote off Coach...but I think voting for Deb was a smart move... I think even if Coach came in number two that the jury would not vote for him..so he'd be a good one to take. But I don't even want him to win second place money....lol I really had to laugh when Taj said to her husband that she smelled...and he said..."yeah you do"... They seem like a very loving couple. patti

A beautiful redo. I looked at the slide show. I love the lightness and the subtle touches of color. The blue lamps are wonderful. I also like the carpets . The tile work in the kitchen is certainly gorgeous. It sounds like the redo only involved furnishings and paint for the rest of the place so I bet this is the original...it certainly looks like what is in my DB's bldg. in Manhattan. c

Very funny..... But I knew right off that it could be the obvious.. The first line was a clue that the obvious could not be the answer.. In order to get all those muscles Arnold had to pump bushels of steroids,,,and the primary side effect of steroids is to shrink the obvious here...LOL

'Advocate' question

The very best advocates for any cause are those who are affected by it. How much power and money would "Michael J. Fox, actor", bring to Parkinson's research if he didn't have early onset Parkinson's disease? Probably not much. He'd just be an actor bleating about a cause, and many would think he was being paid for it. It's the same with Christopher Reeve. You also don't have any idea what other sorts of charitable contributions they have made. I don't know - but I do know lots of actors contribute both time (hosting fundraisers for various causes) and money to various causes. Bristol Palin advocating for abstinence - well, I don't really care. I'd rather see her advocate for birth control!

Don't be so sure time was "lost". There is no evidence that embryonic stem cell research offers anything that is not all ready available through adult stem cell research which has been on-going.

"There exists a widespread controversy over human embryonic stem cell research that emanates from the techniques used in the creation and usage of stem cells. Human embryonic stem cell research is controversial because, with the present state of technology, starting a stem cell line requires the DESTRUCTION OF AN HUMAN EMBRYO and/or therapeutic cloning. However, recently, it has been shown in principle that adult stem cell lines can be manipulated to generate embryonic-like stem cell lines using a single-cell biopsy similar to that used in preimplantation genetic diagnosis that may allow stem cell creation without embryonic destruction. It is not the entire field of stem cell research, but the specific field of human embryonic stem cell research that is at the centre of an ethical debate."

Oh, good! I was so afraid when I saw the topic of this post that something had happened to him!

He seems like such a nice person and has a great, supportive family behind him.

Ditto on what Barb said about adult stem cell research. It is said to be more promising than embryonic stem cell research.

They have done experimental stem cell for diabetics in Canada. A young friend of mine now 40ish had 2 stem cell procedures done and she was so lucky they worked and she is nearly off needles that she's been taking since 12yrs old. It is a miracle for her. She was picked for the trial because her health was deteriorating. We are all so happy for her and now lifting the limits on research, so many people will benefit.

I like MJF though. Watched him grow up on tv.
