Back to the Future (Again)
We’re going back to Back to the Future with a Houzz homage to the classic sci-fi trilogy that hit theaters 30 years ago. First, return to the ’80s with movie memorabilia and totally awesome decor. Then travel even further back in time to 1955 à la Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox’s character in the films) with our retro picks. Finally, go futuristic with space age-inspired products that Doc may have imagined when he set the flux capacitor to October 21, 2015.
Paying homage to the classic sci-fi movie with a plot-hinging date of October 21, 2015
1985
DeLoreans, skateboards and vinyl records remind us of the ’80s, when Marty McFly was the coolest dude in Hill Valley. Bring a dose of playful ’80s style to your decor with Back to the Future memorabilia, flame stitch upholstery and all things neon.
2015
Okay, so we know there aren’t hoverboards and auto-lacing sneakers in 2015, but Marty and the gang had no idea what to expect. We always see the future as sleek and shiny with a minimalistic aesthetic and high-tech functionality. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite 2015 products that really do feel futuristic.

1955
Doc and Marty’s first trip in the DeLorean takes them back to 1955. Ironically, the style 30 years before Back to the Future came out is popular again 30 years later. Midcentury design is popping up everywhere. If people actually could travel back to the ’50s, they’d probably be shoving a whole lot of furniture into the back of that DeLorean.

The drink-o-matic belongs in the 1950's group. Otherwise everything looks pretty era-appropriate!
