Buy, borrow, or rent a live trap or two and take them to the area where he has been spotted. Find a couple of homeowners in that area who would be willing to allow you to set the live traps in their yards.

Cover the live traps with your own dirty, smelly clothing. Your cat will be attracted to the familiar scent. Also if you still have any on-hand, scatter the cleanings from his litterbox around the traps.

After dark, set the traps with warmed up, smelly, fish-flavored canned cat food inside and make sure the homeowners know NOT to disturb or check on the traps until morning. You don't want them inadvertantly scaring your cat away from the traps.

Until you get the traps (check with local animal control, humane shelters, animal rescues, and wildlife services for traps to rent or borrow), try searching for your cat late at night, after dark and after most people are off the streets. It's usually easier to locate a cat at night because you can use your flashlight to illuminate his eyes in the dark. Of course you should notify the homeowners in the neighborhood that you'll be skulking around their yards with a flashlight after dark looking for your cat so that you don't get arrested.

I hope you find/capture your boy and bring him home very soon.

Thanks for the advice, found out when walking through the neighborhood where he was spotted that it probably isn't him, but another siamese in the neighborhood that is a indoor outdoor cat. So I am back to square one with basically no leads on him.

He may very well still be close to your home. I recommend following my advice above but placing the trap outside your own home. Also, put his (hopefully soiled) litterbox outside your door, and scatter some of your dirty laundry around your yard.

Check all around your neighborhood, esp. anywhere he may have been trapped like garden sheds, garages, basements, etc. When you search at night with a flashlight, check hidden areas such as under porches or house foundations.

I'm sure you've already done these things, but call and/or visit all of your neighbors within at least a 4 block radius, area animal shelters, rescues, municipal pounds, animal control, law enforcement, boarding facilities, vets, groomers, and pet stores. Make up posters with his photo and distribute them to all of the above, as well as posting them around your neighborhood. Place a lost ad in the local newspapers and on the local radio stations. GO TO your area shelters and pounds daily to check the animals for yourself. DO NOT rely on phone calls to those facilities. You'd be amazed at how many animals are misidentified by shelter and pound staff.

Is this an indoor/ outdoor cat? I'm surprised he can't find his way home. Put posters with his picture on every pole around a mile or more radius and go to HS personally to check. Do you think he may have been stolen?

He was a indoor only cat & snuck out when I was out of town & husband was watching the pets. I have done all that laurief has suggested & won't give up on finding him.
But we do think some one has taken him in, since he was so friendly & we have not seen any sign of him. So in a way yes we think he's been stolen.
