Talking to the pregnant daughter yesterday. She had a great day, and felt really good. Not much longer.... due on the 2nd of May.

Guess I just answered this one on the 'how did your Easter go' thread.

Hightlight had to be talking to my Dsis on the phone. We only live 2 miles away, and talk and see each other regularly. But they had a terrible crash on I-95 the day before. I'm so glad I was ABLE to talk to her. They're so lucky to be alive, and that no one else was hurt or killed. Definitely a 'makes you think' moment.

"Also, anyone who cuts me off. Especially when I am the only one coming, and after they cut me off, they drive below the speed limit." Ditto...and bicyclists on the roads....and I quote: "Bicyclists, in-line skaters, and motor vehicle drivers must all use and obey the same traffic laws. A motorist must recognize that a bicyclist or in-line skater has the same rights as any another motor vehicle driver." I find that folks on bicycles or in-line skates do not have the "protection" of a car. They are basically a moving target, and if we allow them the same "rights" as motor vehicles, somewhere, somehow, someone is going to get hurt, or worse, end up dead. I've seen too many accidents involving bicyclists who were negligent and took chances and ended up in an accident with a car. And it's the person in the car who is subject to scrutiny, and perhaps a lawsuit. Discliamer: I ride my bike to our local farm market, but the road I travel is a local road with minimal traffic. What I'm referring to are those bicyclists who use our main thoroughfares. That's what bike paths are for. I'll get off my soapbox now ;o)

I used to have the urge to open a business, but it passed. Having been in a serious MVA that caused me to lose a lot of time from work due to the accident (when it happened), and later surgeries, it would be too much pressure for me to have a business any more. I would constantly worry that something would happen again.

Honestly, kermudgeon, I cannot wrap my brain around that idea I don't know what to say..the best answer would be that i've never looked at housework as a chore..I don't see it as something that has to be done but something I want done...hey, nobody ever said I was normal :)

I must be a good neighbour because I am the person who is asked by many neighbours to feed their animals and take care of their houses when they go away. I stop and chat with everyone on my street except the nasty one next door. Cheryl my neighbour on the other side of me is sick a lot of the time or doesn't have groceries in her cupboard so I share with her what I have and make her up a meal when I know she isn't well. Most of us help each other out. Dale across the street comes to my aid when my basement floods and Cheryl has helped me weed the backyard and helped me get rid of the wet stuff from the basement. Ken and Frieda have done so much for me and they are like family. They got me through the grief of losing my Mom. I in turn help my neighbours out. Dale's wife Karen will often come over with a few bottles of beer and often she will yell across the road and say "come across the ditch (the road) and have a beverage" We will sit on her front porch and hoot and holler and laugh ourselves silly. Other neighbours always comment on how they liked hearing us laugh. The new neighbour across the street (how terrible I can't recall his first name) will come over and give Loki a treat. Loki doesn't bark at him either. We are such good neighbours I looked out my front window on Saturday and saw my lawn mower sitting on the sidewalk. LOL Tom the neighbour two doors over must have brought it over from where I store it, gassed it up and was giving me a hint it was time to cut my grass. LOLOL I had planned on cutting it on Sunday but I didn't take offense. He even raised the wheels for me because this would have been the first cutting of the season and the grass was still wet. Anne

Sermon by our Doctor of Ministry candidate minister, just returned from 3-month sabbatical, partly spent on her thesis:

God, like a man patrolling the beach throwing living starfish back far into the ocean, is a "Star-thrower" ...

... and calls us to be "star-throwers", too ... having respect for life ... preserving life ... being serious about preserving our precious God-given planet.

Good wishes for a creative and conservationist lifestyle during this week ... and beyond, everyone.

P.S. A secondary, if I may? The fellowship at Easter breakfast with friends much like larger family at our church.

My mom called yesterday--that is the first time I have talked to her in almost a month--she lost her job in Dec. and her phone service in Jan. I bought and sent her a Tracfone but she doesn't like to use up her minutes to talk like we used to so I don't call her as usual. I'll be going to the store later to buy her a phone card that I'll send in a box of goodies this week.

Sitting on a sofa with my 18-year-old granddaughter, her legs across my lap, viewing prom dresses on her Blackberry. I'm so lucky to have her, and our great relationship.

I think it might have been a highlight when a church member told me how much my old art teacher wanted to meet up with me next week. She lives in Colorado. That was near 60 years ago when she was my teacher. The church member said I must have made a special impression on my teacher!

Visiting a little church just a block from home for Easter Services. It was so nice to be able to walk there. The people were friendly, the sermon was good. It is a very small church. There were maybe 75 people there for Easter service. This is a whole lot like the church I grew up in and it's been years since I've attended services somewhere so small. We're planning to go back next week.

The breakfast at church. Served by the youth group (my DGD being one). Then a play they (the youth group) put on during the service.

Finally getting to sit down and relax with a cup of tea at about 11:30 p.m.

Why are even simple Holidays so much work? I want to be a heathen and spend the next holiday alone on a beach somewhere.

Drawing a line thru the "do the taxes" on my list of things to do. Now everything that's left on the list is fun stuff. Sew this, paint that, teach such and such.... I am so much happier today than I was this time yesterday!

Hearing our church choir sing "Hallelujah" at the end of the service. I helped serve breakfast in the church basement all morning but I did run upstairs to hear that song. I even remembered to take my apron off before I went upstairs. LOL.

All the hours before the last one of the shift, when something awful happened. Stayed late and didn't want to leave but the other shift was on the floor and house supervisor wanted us gone so they wouldn't have to pay us overtime. Decided not to put down my overtime, because that wasn't the reason I stayed.

The smiles I saw all around me. The enthusiastic wag of my doggies tail when she got a bit of ham - all the positive feelings of the day was wonderful

Eating lunch with my special needs sister at the Home. And listening to her tell everyone at the table what all was in her Easter 'bag'......(this bunny has learned it's easier than a basket). When we buy her clothes for her birthday and Christmas, we prewash so she can wear right away. The Easter Bunny and Santa doesn't do that, so her clothes were in their Blair pkgs. She was so excited to tell me that the Easter Bunny brought her BRAND NEW clothes. Hmmm, wonder if she thinks the others are hand me downs! lol
