I don't have photos but I used this on all of the trim in our home. Love this paint! It leaves an amazingly hard finish and looks fabulous. There is a bit of a learning curve in using it. Practice first. You need to work quickly and sure. Too much brushing will gunk up. Fill your brush and apply in sure even strokes. Don't brush over areas that you've already brushed. It will level out. Hope this helps.

The painter I hired to paint our kitchen cabinets suggested this paint. I was not very impressed. The first night that I came home after he had worked, I noticed tons of runs and drips under the chair rail on the wainscoting. He looked at it with me the next day and said it was a problem with the paint, it was "drooping". He bought another gallon, same stuff, it did the same thing.

Finally, with lots of care (and sanding off the drips and repainting), he did get a pretty good result, but given how much all of this cost, I was disappointed.

Now that it is dry and we've been living with it for about 9 months, I have found that it chips pretty easily, and have had to do many touchups. To be fair, these surfaces were previously painted, so I don't know if this is a result of the new paint or the bond to the old (he did use XIM sealer/primer as the first coat).

I used the leftovers to paint a few bookcases and trim in another room and I found the odor from the paint to be overwhelming. It made it hard for me to breathe. It is super thick, and hard to smooth.

It does have a warranty, and I was tempted to take it back to SW, but with all of the labor costs I'd already paid, getting back $40 for the material didn't really seem worth it.

Just a contrary opinion. Sounds like the previous poster really liked it - maybe I just got part of a bad batch?

I hated the stuff!

I LOVE painting and went with the suggestion to use the ProClassic for my cabinet painting job. I was not impressed and it was horrible to work with. You need to use insanely thin layers. I would up putting eight layers of the stuff on my cabinets to get it to look right. Even still, I can see imperfections and I'm a total stickler for painting properly.

Honesty, I would use a top quality paint (I'm really partial to Benjamin Moore's Aura) and then a clear top coat.

I have been an avid Cabinet Coat user for the last couple years. It is NOT oil based - it is totally water cleanup. It is a bit tricky to work with - it's drippier than regular paint and you need to put on thin coats, but I love it - the finish is smooth and hard, levels out perfectly, and holds up extremely well.

I did recently buy some water-based alkyd paint at ACE - their cabinet paint line. I haven't tried it yet, but I hear the same things about it that the folks above said about the S-W version -- it's drippy, you can't overbrush it, you need to put on VERY thin coats, and it has a long cure time. I'm a little nervous about using it, but unfortunately, my beloved Cabinet Coat can't be tinted in anything darker than pastels and I wanted a dark brown/almost black.

I'll let you know how it turns out when I try it (hopefully this weekend). I'm a pretty experienced DIY painter and I've tried just about every brand of paint out there in my quest for perfection, LOL! I'm pretty picky and Cabinet Coat has been setting the bar pretty high for trim paint for me, so the ACE paint has its work cut out for it.

I'm not the OP, but wanted to thank everyone for the helpful input. I will need good trim paint for crown and baseboards for our new kitchen and sunroom later this year. In general I prefer SW paint (if for no other reasont than that our SW has great customer svc)but have not had any experience w/ the Pro Classic line. I know brushworks and others here have said that both Pro Classic and BM's Impervo were good, but I learn so much from hearing about other laymen's experiences.

Thanks so much everyone for the invaluable information. My husband told me today that he had a surprise for me and it turns out he hired out the work. So when the painter comes to give the estimate Thursday, I am going to pick his brain. Plus, I am not sure if I want to hire it out because I want it done right and this painter does not specialize in cabinetry which is a huge red flag for me. He painted the exterior of our house in December and did an awesome job but cabinets are a whole different animal
