let's step it up a bit, after all, I don't want OP to feel like she is only one:-)...do you decorate your rooms, pick out color of your car, etc to go with your best colors, or to best flatter the person whose room it is?

I just picked out a paint color for a friend and insisted he needed the blue green to go with his eyes.

My husband "lights" our rooms with gels, uplights, dimmers, and every other trick we've learned in our line of work. he gets really nervous if there aren't "pools of light" working the room (and yes, I'm quoting him).

I carry tile samples, fabric swatches and paint cards with me at all times in the back of my car. Car is also home to a paint fan deck and a measuring tape.

I admit I'm powerless over decorating...

When I was a kid I can remember my great-aunt regularly sending us pictures of the inside of her apartment.

I thought it was realllly weird to take pictures of rooms with no people in them.

Flash-forward around 30 years later and I'm standing in my laundry room taking pictures. Of the room. Just the room - no people.

I have turned into my 80 year-old aunt.

I never leave the house without my little bag containing fabric samples, paint swatch and pictures of the room I am currently working on. I keep a measuring tape in my purse because you never know when you might need it!

I have found something to "re-do" in every room of my house and DH is telling me "GET OFF THAT WEBSITE ALREADY"! lol

I also used to keep paint samples in my purse to match to walls in homes for sale and to match to bedding. I used to keep a tape measure also in my purse. I finally had to take it out and focus on my work now that my house is painted and I am trying to accept the colors I chose.

Your new Civic sounds beautiful. Any pics? I keep wanting to trade in my Acura RSX that is a gray color (Desert Silver Metalic) for a new Civic that has that telescoping steering wheel and fits me like a glove being that I am petite. I also want a happy color this time. I think if the new license plate makes you happy, then it was the right thing to do. :) Which style did you get? Please post some pictures! I love their pretty blue color.

I have to wait at least another year to buy before I can consider trading in my car after I found out what it was worth since I just finished paying off my car this past January and I want at least one year without payments.

Absolutely! I was picking out kitty beds and one of the determining factors was what COLOR would go with the LR/DR decor!

DH's car is his favorite color, blue (which does admittedly match his eyes LOL), but mine is black because it was a "get this the h*ll off the lot" bargain. I didn't really want a black car because they show the dirt so, but the bottle-green one I preferred was almost a grand more and like fun THAT was happening, and the only other one I could get for the cheapie price was a really putrid metallic-gold-flecks-over-beige. *barf*

OF COURSE I take into consideration how I look with a certain color when choosing paint for a room, though. You think I want to look like death in my house? LOL One of the reasons why my bedroom in the last house was olive green was because I look GREAT in olive! I too used to keep an accordion folder in my car with fabric and paint swatches, flooring samples, photos, measurements, you name it. Eventually I'll make one up for this house. I didn't keep anything in my purse because I have to minimize the size/weight of my purse to keep my back from getting even crankier. A tape measure has always lived in my glove compartment.

However, I cheerfully admit that I have no life. LOL

I carry my swatches and fandeck in the car. And Decorpas--my neighbor in our loft building is a grip. Guess what I got him to do during the recent writer's strike. I might not be tidy, but I'm beautifully lit.

good use of the downtime! glad we're not the only ones. our DP friend brings dimmers when he comes over. if he starts bringing flags, I'll know we're in trouble.

There's always been a bit of a joke that I purchased my cats because they go with my hair (red):

I got you beat Mimi. I picked my kids car seats to both match each other and my car which in turn matches my house. My DH jokes that if I could just get my label maker out and label them as well it would be a perfect example of how OCD I am. :-)

I chose the two car seats for my little dogs since the covers looked like they matched my car. I could have saved a little bit of money by going with black but I wanted the seats to look nice in my car. :) I now keep them by the window in my home office when they are not in use in the car and the beige/khaki color looks nice also with my cellular blinds and my carpet and my putty file cabinets.

I'm thinking about moving to KY just so I can get one of their gorgeous Monarch plates.

Igloochi, your son is adorable and so are your cats! I love red cats and I love red hair on those that look good with red hair. I tried being a red head but red hair just did not look good on me like it does on some people.

Oh no, it happened to me last night at dinner w/my husband. I went to the ladies' room and as I was washing my hands I noticed that the tile installed on an edge wall had no bullnose-it was just the bare edge of the ceramic. So I'm lathering up thinking, oh how tacky, couldn't they have finished off the edge for a nicer view...I would have NEVER noticed something like that pre-GW, or maybe pre-Bill Vincent!
