I make a new recipe a couple of times a week. Sometimes they are keepers and sometimes I go back to the "regular" stuff, LOL.

Ashley is the same way. If I gave her something new more than twice a week, she'd revolt. Sometimes I try new things and take it to work to share with the boss because I know I've reached my quota of new recipes, LOL.

Bread especially, I'm trying a new bread recipe all the darned time, but my favorite is still the maple oatmeal. Doesn't mean I won't try the next thing that looks good. (grin)

At least one new recipe a week. Several years ago DH moved his office back to our home and decided that it just didn't make sense for me to come home and cook after my lengthy commute. Dinner was always later than we liked and he wanted to take that stress from me, bless him. I get to cook on weekends and I try to make it something special/memorable and that is my opportunity to try at least one new recipe a week.

At least a couple of times a week, even if it's just a new sandwich or lunch-type soup. I've found it's a way to not mind cooking day-to-day - stirs my interest. And a lot of new recipes I'm just curious about.

Usually once a week, twice if I'm feeling adventurous!

A couple of times a week. I like to experiment so it's always fun to see what I can come up with. Today I made cranberry-almond biscotti (new recipe) and lemon-pear cake.

I try new recipes alot since I need the guidance. I am trying to learn to cook without recipes. I think when I can put together a meal based on what I stumble upon in the store then maybe I might have a clue.

Wish me luck tomorrow. I am attempting Sunday Gravy for the first time ever. I copied one of Eileen's posts and went to the butcher today. I didn't buy pork necks since I wouldn't know one if I feel over one, I figured pork chops would be enough. I am going to try her method and see how it comes out. I hope she didn't leave out anything critical. If this works out we may go Italian for Christmas Eve this year.

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I'll try a new recipe several times a week and sometimes about once every two or three weeks. I would like to be able to try a new one almost every day because I don't like a lot of repeats.

All the time - so much so, that I forget to cook the recipes that we always love and the old ones become new again. I have a very adventurous family. I have a hard time cooking the same recipe the same way each time, even though I cook by recipes. I view them as guidance. That's why I don't bake. I can't measure perfectly (unless I am sewing). I like to throw in a little bit more of this & that & change ingredients.

It seems like there are so many recipes, so little time! Plus, we love most of the tried & true, so it's hard not to make repeats. As for baking, now that it's just the two of us I don't bake as much as I used to. Even the family next door moved, so I have no one to give it to any more. Boo Hoo.

Not as often as I would like, mainly due to time and the old man that likes the "T&T" dinners.

But I do have white beans soaking tonight to try a cassoulet for the weekend, a new adventure for me.

Not as often as I'd like and not nearly as often as I used to. Maybe once every two weeks. If DH is home for several days, then I get interested in more new things because I have someone to help eat the evidence. :)

Not as often as I need to......to get through the ream of paper sitting in my kitchen waiting! LOL

I will try a new "recipe" about once a week (average) I suppose. In reality, most of our meals are "new" because I don't really use a recipe for most of them which means they don't come out the same each time (i.e. spaghetti sauce, meatloaf, etc.). On the other hand, we eat pretty simply most of the time. Some kind of meat, a veggie and a starch.
That certainly doesn't count as a new recipe in my book!

Most new ones are baking, breads, casseroles.

I cannot commit to weekly, but on a monthly basis, I'd say I try something new at least 6-8 times per month.

Okay, so I have a short attention span. Which means even tho my "go to" favorites are whispering in my left ear, there are always a bunch of "untrieds" whispering in my right ear!

I just always think there is a recipe out there that is going to bring me to my knees, all I have to do is TRY it!

Here's an interesting quote from, "The Joy of Simple Living" - by Jeff Davidson.

"If you have just eight cookbooks in your household, each offering 250 to 650 recipes, they can add up to as many as 5,200 recipes. If you tried one new recipe each week, it would take 100 years to prepare them all."

I believe I read somewhere that the average number of recipes used out of any one cookbook is 2-3. I'm also pretty sure (from experience) that number goes down the more books in your collection. I must have a small fortune tied up in post-it-notes flagging recipes I'd like to try, waving at me from the pages of my cookbooks, screaming "make me", "make me".

So often that I can't remember where I got the recipes that worked out well. I finally realized that I could save my "all-recipes" to a collection and started printing my others and putting in a folder in the kitchen. I'm still bad about taking my laptop in the kitchen and whipping something up without ever printing off the recipe. Then, when it works I can't find the recipe.
Not a big deal in cooking as I can usually duplicate that but in baking bread (which I'm just learning the past couple of months) it becomes a problem.
I make new recipes everyday that I'm not working and just about everytime that I cook so probably 3-7 recipes a week. Just started baking bread and love the added challenge. Cooking meals was getting boring. Bread is so much fun! Like kitchen science experiments. I even made my own starter from scratch without buying a starter culture!

Not often enough! The last several months have been a blur for me with work and family matters. This month is proving to be the same with all of the craziness of the season. I hope to do better after the first of year. I do have my eye on a few new candies and cookies for our Christmas treats though.
