Are you getting a whooping cough booster?

When my grandson was born last summer, his parents and aunt (my daughter) got whooping cough booster shots to make sure he was protected. At the time, boosters weren't recommended for people over 60 or 65 (I forget which). But now the recommendations have changed, apparently in response to a serious outbreak of whooping cough in the northwest.

I asked a pharmacist about the shot yesterday, and she said it's part of the tetanus shot they offer. I'm going to check with our local health department to see if they'll give me the shot for free. They've always done that for my tetanus shots--which I'm about due for anyway.

How about you?
