Have a Braun hand-held stick/immersion blender you want to sell?

One of my oft-used appliances broke and I can't replace it - an older Braun stick blender with chopper. I've tried 30-40 places that list it, but there are none in stock when I go to put it in my "cart". Anyone have one - maybe given by a well-meaning friend or you purchased, that you don't use or want? If so, I'd be interested in buying it. I want the type that came with a small clear canister that had a separate blade in it to be used as a mini-chopper, basically. I don't *have* to have the whipper, if it came with it and you can't find it, and I don't need the wall hanger. I'd really prefer Model #MR 430HC, which originally sold new for $30, but am open to other, later models. Ebay is an option, but I'd like it asap. Thanks so much!! Trust me that there are NO places that have it in stock - lots of mentions through Google and Amazon, but then says "out of stock".

How is it broken? What's the problem?

(I'm *trying* to keep this at the top - lol.) Two different parts are broken, it's 11 years old and not worth trying to replace the hand gears, were it even avail. from a parts place, (which it isn't). The bowl is also broken.

Ken - Why would you never really crush ice with the Bamix (if one doesn't have anything else that can crush ice, except hammer or maybe mortar & pestle)? Does it do a poor job, or risk damaging/dulling the blades or mechanism? Or do you mean crushing ice is just one of those things that you would never do (need?) anyway? I'm curious as that's one function I'd like to be able to do somehow or other - not often, but would be useful from time to time. I gather that there's a special blade that can be used in the (KitchenAid) food processor for grating ice, but I haven't pursued that yet... would seem for the same reasons of easier clean-up that the Bamix might be more tempting for that use? I haven't advanced to a burr grinder yet for coffee grinding; still occasionally use a blade grinder but usually take beans to a local coffee shop for grinding. But I guess if I ever start using my "good" - Cuisinart blade vs old Braun blade - grinder for grinding spices (which I presume might transfer to the coffee), that being able to use Bamix (if I had one!) for "emergency" coffee grinding would be a bonus. Forgot to mention that the Bamix cost was ~$160-180Cdn. I'd rather pay a bit more if something will last ("forever" ideally) or be truly more versatile, but that's quite pricey.

I have had a Braun for many years that has been okay, not great. It was a gift, so I didn't have the opportunity to look at different features/brands; this has a plastic bottom (which is cracked), you can't remove the blades to clean, and isn't good at keeping splashing to a minimum. But is does blend and has otherwise held up to frequent use. Just yesterday (what a coincidence you brought this up now!), I ordered a new one by KitchenAid on amazon. It had good recommendations and has more features that appeal to me: metal base, removeable blades, etc. (Plus, I ordered it with a few other kitchen items that earned me the $25 discount on a $125 purchase from amazon). Mustangs - Very nice organization!!!!!! You even are set up to take a picture and embed it in your text. I am impressed! I e-mailed Braun, but they haven't gotten back to me. I decided to return the unit anyway - it seemed awkward to hold over a pot, (it looks more like a blender than a stick) and I really didn't need all the attachments. I don't have one. I am only guessing:
1. It looks like a direct driven machine therefore it has no gears.
2. It looks like it has a universal AC motor, and not an induction motor. If so, the carbon brushes may need to be replaced.
3. If it is not doing anything, check the switch and the wiring that's entering the blender.

Loves2: Braun has always been a very well-known long-lasting brand for this type of item - I've always loved mine. Always well-reviewed.
dcarch: Surely you jest. It's ELEVEN years old and two separate broken items; not worth it. Just having it analyzed would cost $20+ and then ...

Yes, I know - thank you! But I can see that this is going to end up more than triple or quadruple the orig. price and I just HATE paying that outrageous amount.

I have the Braum MR5550 and love it. Tell Santa you need one it might even fit in a stocking!
