Lots of cats have shadow striping. I've seen some "solid" black cats and "solid" grey cats that have faint, barely detectable striping in their coats. Their's a kitten at the shelter (I volunteer) who is black, and not only has sahdow stripes, but her undercoat is practically white! Looks really neat.

As for toys, you have try out different ones to see what he likes or prefers. Some cats at the shelter love to play with small mouse toys, either the ones made w/ real fur (ick, but many cats do love toys made w/ real fur) or other types. Some at the shelter go nuts for small stuffed animal type toys (the ones covered with curly "hair" are a big hit!), and many (incl my own cats) LOVE pom-pom or soft fuzzy ball toys (just make sure the pom-poms are well-made (no loose yarn pieces). Mine also love those pet stages (?) toys--brightly colored 2-3" "fishies" with streamer tails. A bit more $ than some of the other toys, but mine love to play with them.

My cats enjoy the 'Catch Me if you Can' (Walmart has them). It's a battery operated toy that spins around under a tarp erratically. You have to change the batteries frequently but the toy seems to hold their interest. They sell tunnels that were a big hit for my cats for quite some time until the novelty wore off. They still run do them once and awhile, though. I hooked 2 together so they have a long tunnel to buzz through. They make a crinkly sound when they run through them similar to paper bags which are always a delight.

I think that you have to keep experimenting with toys until you find what is a hit with your cat. I have a little box of toys accumulated, some they play with some they could care less about. Anything with real fur is preferred here opposed to synthetic. Only of three cats of mine like catnip toys. I have two Bengals that retrieve but they both have different interests. One loves the real fur mice and these plastic jaks I bought in the kids section at the dollar store. The other one loves balls, mainly those plastic colored balls with the slits. She spends a lot of time knocking them around the kitchen floor. (If you squeeze them, the annoying little bell inside comes out).

A window seat or a place for kitty to sit and watch the birds and squirrels helps keeps them occupied, too.

Seems like those at Pepper Joe have not changed. I ordered a pack of red Carolina Reapers, planted all the seeds, plants germinated very quickly and plants are doing just fine. However all the peppers are yellow, do not look like reapers at all, certainly not spicey at all and I think it is just a scam. I can literarily snack on the yellow "whatever" pepper they sold me without feeling any heat. In the meantime I ordered directly from the man himself Ed Currie on https://puckerbuttpeppercompany.com and have been growing some real reapers.

Evening all, Well apparently my ISP has been having some problems....i havent been able to get on for days. busy signal. they are experiencing techinal problems....unknown fix date. however, when i told them im cutting service today, i can get in. who knows when next though. Shirley, OH i will keep your Dad in prayers. i hope they find whats wrong soon try and keep his spirits up. Annie and Anita...oh my word.12...32.....and i have such troubles with one. Annie, would love pics when you get again. i got my camera as a santa gift. ask for one with not too many buttons. wish mine didn't have so many. i spent weeks figuring out closeups and now cant take any others. :). and Anita...maybe the barn is why we get so many dumps. hadnt though of that, not that i can get rid of it. they usually dont get this far alive though :(. Oddly enough, his "specialty" is crossing new hybrids with hemerocallis fulva "the ditch lilly". ive heard hes getting great things and cant wait to see for myself. Sharon. spiny Sea Urchin here came out like the pic you see. what i didnt like was the constant color break in the sepals. that was the best pic i could take. but mort morss and a couple of other here were worse. thrips, lack of water, new here, who knows? take it for what its worth (all have not been here long), but the winner for garden beauty in this class was Spacecoast Sharptooth. spines and a beauty to knock you over. (pic prev posted) if you want one thats been here longer, heres a surprise... Crown of Creation. Registered double, it never does here (im not the only one in this area) awesome every time. Bambi, the good news is that if ive bought it, the price will plummet! mark my word:). i usually buy at least a few years out though...with a few hybridizing exceptions, expect at least 20% per year. more earlier. Anita, getting is even better than need lol. im on a limit this year and trying to stay there though. 2o is what i can fit at leat with the current spots open. Shirley, at least thus far, spiny su has made small fans here. it is small here too, but keep your fingers crossed. One more pic. a couple of people asked earlier if crosses came out the same, or how different they can be. the pic is of two of the same....Bill Munson x Lace Cookies. the one on the left is a huge flower (8"?) but ugly version of mommy, the one on the right i really liked, looks likes daddy quite a bit, but i thought it had some edge potential. of the 3 others, 2 non-descript yellows, and one even uglier version of Bill Munson. This outcome is typical imho. but occasionally, you can get one that looks nothing like neither parent as well. Cindy Gloria & Paul, what beautiful families! G, you do not look a thing like i pictured....are you a movie star too?

Thanks to you all for posting the pic for me! natal, Thanks! I had to postpone the vet appt to Tuesday. My dryer quit working and had to get it fixed that day. sable, I will definately ask the vet if it could possibly be asthma. She still does it a lot! Funny thing about her, I was ready for her to be a "talker" since she is a siamese mix, and she hardly talks! Maybe she will as she gets older? bestyears, she is doing great with my son! She still loves my DH the best though. My son wants to carry her around, when she would rather be sleeping, I think. He sometimes picks her up when she's in her little post (in the pic), asleep. tjerrilynn, that is the CUTEST thing I have ever seen! I love his (or her) haircut! marlene, thank you and I am glad to hear about the male and female cats together. I am going to seriously start looking for another one. betsyhac, your cats are so pretty and full-figured-LOL! June is on the skinny side now, and I'm guessing she will be until she gets out of the kitten stage. I wonder what she will look like when she's all mature! She plays with us a lot now, and is very curious. She loves to lay on her back and let us rub her belly until she falls asleep, so cute! I got a hooded kitty litter box and she likes it, thank goodness! It has been much easier to keep clean around the box now. I put one of those rubber (I think) kind of pads down in front of her box as she walks out and it has made such a difference, plus the hood on the box. She has Softpaws on her nails right now, baby blue to match her eyes! We just love her!

Large paper grocery bags, boxes of all sizes, ping pong balls, pheasant feathers, Turbo Scratcher - these are favorite toys around my house.

My four still play with the crinkly tunnel. Some more than others. They like the lightweight balls that they can bat around, the fur balls, and the round ring that has a ball inside that they bat round and round. Also, any box or paper bag is fought over.

Isn't it funny how they all have their preferences? Yesterday kitty had so much fun playing with 1 popcorn kernel on the kitchen floor. She has no reaction to catnip though. I got her the scratcher linked below, and she loves it. She's a tiny cat and can actually crawl inside, which I don't think the manufacturer intended. It comes apart and she likes to play in it when it's apart because it's basically a box. She also likes shoeboxes, fishing pole toys.
