My remodel is planned for mid April and I chose my granite first since that is something mother nature creates and we can't put our color order in with her. I have also chosen Typhoon Bordeaux but I haven't found my lot yet. Every slab I have liked has been sold and the ones available have been with the large rusty streak through it. I have someone looking for me now. Choosing cabinets is where I am at now and the color choices are limitless. My backsplash will be something we do after cabinets and granite are installed as I agree with previous poster that now you can bring home samples and see it in your own kitchen lighting throughout the day. Yes, it will take a little more time to finish the project, but it's a large detail that will impacts us daily and a little time now vs. regret later is well worth it. My two cents worth. My first time posting on a blog so bear with me! We are about to launch an overhaul of our kitchen, laundry and powder room. Ordered ebony-colored cabinets (very, very dark with reddish undertones), typhoon bordeaux granite. Love the reds, oranges in the granite (and even subtle greens). Have been looking at crackle tiles in tans and creamy/whitish colors but not finding one I love. Has anyone used a stacked creamy natural stone? And, from the other end of the spectrum, has anyone pulled out the reddish color for the backsplash? Saw a great burgundy/wine color tile.

Our kitchen was recently destroyed by a dishwasher fire so we are in the process of replacing everything. We have new cherry cabinets (still light - they have not had time to bloom) and will have typhoon bordeaux countertops. I am struggling with a backsplash that will not compete and am considering more granite to go behind the stove or very plain subway tiles so as not to compete with the granite. I like BostonPam's choices very much and am also curious how sjmitch's granite backsplash looks. Thanks for any thoughts and ideas!

I think Winchester Tile has some of the prettiest creams out there, maybe because they're British. ;) I looked at several. They have several different collections, each containing creams. They have a good US dealer network and their website has a Dealer Locator, as I recall.
