My Broken Leg

Hey all, I went to the Orthodedic Surgeon on Wednesday and it turns out that I broke the right leg in three places...the fibula, the back of the tibia and this is the most painful...I chipped and broke off most of the bone on the inner ankle. That part hurts so bad! It feels like an open wound rubbing against the cast. We're playing it week by week to see if surgery is needed. Meanwhile, I'm a wherely derby in the wheelchair! :)

Oh, I was a military brat and an officer's wife as well, and the protocol was so defined, one even knew before the fact where they'd be seated at a function or park in the lot outside. Neither of my parents were 'high society', but of a generation where upward mobility was linked to 'what other people' thought. Since America didn't have royalty, we had to invent them and it was done in social circles. I do a lot of historical and genealogical research, and anyone my age or older knows very well how the society section of the paper read. It was the common mass' fifteen minutes of fame and nobody begrudged it to them. Oh gosh.......not that protocol should dissolve completely. I still cringe at white shoes worn before Memorial day, sandals in winter, school jackets worn over formals, and bridal gowns designed like somebody forgot to cover their underwear, complete with corset stays showing as well as a mountain of cleavage all the while a veil over the face denoting modesty. rofl. After googling the popular W**martian U-tube videos nothing shocks me anymore and a really pretty red sweater and Tuxedo pants for a wedding strikes me as beautifully appropriate. Enjoy yourself.

long term leak around shower controls

There should be an acess panel behind the shower/tub valves. Sometimes builders neglect to put one in, and it stays that way for years until there is a problem and somebody has to cut an access panel. It's that time! You have a problem and you need to cut an access and look inside the wall. Since it's inside a closet, you can cut a fairly large access and not worry about looks. You really can't be sure you have completely stopped all leaks until you look behind the wall and make sure it's dry and stays dry. Most houses have some amount of mold here and there. It's not something to go off the deep end over unless your writing for the newspapers. If it's not making you sick, spray a little bleach on it, brush it off when dry and vacuum it up. And fix the moisture problem, so it doesn't come back and get worse. The smell should go away when you get rid of the moisture.

Glad you have a sense of humor about it. I don't think I would! Heal quickly and I hope the pain goes away.

How awful! I've broken some bones, but never anything that badly. I broke a bone in my foot once, but never a leg. It was horrible having that cast on for so long.

Thanks all....I'm actually doing well and go back to the Dr. on Friday to make sure nothing has "shifted". I did have an eye opener today. I went grocery shopping with my husband and I rode the motorized cart while he pushed a normal cart. I have NO CLUE how people can shop with these motorized carts. You can't get close enough to the shelves with all the crap they have in the isles and you are only able to get foods that are on the next to bottom shelf...unless you actually stand up. I have a very new respect for people who have to shop alone and use an electric cart!! Have any of you used one? What did you think of the experience?
