I love the striped silk-I think it adds a richness that you need in the bedroom. As for bedding, can you find a coordinating fabric and have a duvet/bedspread made with some pillow shams and possibly a dust ruffle (if you want to soften the look)?

You chose the striped one with all the colors which will definitely make a statement in the room (according to the SS owner). The other one blends in but has an interesting sheen to it. He didn't have a full bolt of the dupioni so I am trying to decide with that little square. The striped one is a tad cheaper than the other one but not enough to really make a difference. I am saving money but going with panels on rings vs. something fancy like goblet pleats.

Love love love the colors in the dupioni. Both are very rich looking, I can see why you are having trouble deciding. Are you looking for more tone on tone or would you like a little more color and spice? The taffeta will blend with the walls where as the dupioni will make a statement, one of good taste.

I love the almost monochromatic elegance of the plain one, but I also like the stripe and would go with that for one big reason. If you have not picked out bedding yet, the stripe gives you some color options. You could do a solid green or red bedding and look like it was coordinated with the stripe, or a gold that works with the background color. I would think about having some extra of the stripe to use for pillows for the bed or in the sitting area.

The plain one may hamper the choice of bedding. It also makes the walls read a little greenish in comparison. The stripe doesn't do that, perhaps because there is a green in there.

I love them both, but think the bolder stripe might be a nice contrast with the walls and would give you lots of options for your bedding, as les said. Also, if DH likes it and you are ok with it, it will be a big plus if he feels he contributed, (if your DH is anything like mine!) Even better if you make him think it was all his idea.....

I am wild about your EK Cognac. Does it look like the photo IRL? I recall another post where it had a more peachy look. Ditto for the Ashen Green; am currently prowling my house for a place to use it!!

They are all just scrumptious, but I think I'd go with the rich dark stripe. Lucky you to get to have them!

Looks like everyone is agreeing that the bolder stripe will look better.

The cognac is very nice and does NOT look peachy at all! I think it does lean a little green but I don't know, IRL it is bronzy. In fact, the silk stripe is bronzy and coppery. I think once the silk stripe goes up and its folded it won't look so stripey to me.

Yeah, I was sooo surprised when the Ashen Green went up. I had splotched some on the walls and my painter said hmmm, this might be dark in here. But once it went up he was shocked at how much lighter it was that he didn't think it was the same paint color. I placed my painted poster up to the painted wall and he was surprised that it matched. So don't be afraid that it will be too dark - it's not!!

I just told DH that you all were voting and that HIS choice was winning!!! Big smile and oh really?? :)

I like the stripe, but how would they be hung? My concern is are the windows large enough to handle that stripe? I actually prefer the solids and then some color on the bedding with pillows. The solid is an irradescent so it has variance in color depending on how the light hits it, am I right? Are you keeping that bedspread that's pictured?

Brutuses that is what I was thinking - if I go with the solid there would be more variations in bedspread choices and if I ever wanted to paint a different color (not that I am thinking that now!).
I was planning on panels on rings - the one window in the sitting room is a double window and then we planned on 2 panels on each of the other 3. The store owner suggested a panel and half for each of the smaller windows (combined panel and half - 3/4 on each side) and a panel and half for each side of the double window. If I go with the dupioni stripe it is cheaper so I could get a fancier detail like inverted pleats or goblets. (see silksupplyco.com). The ceilings are 9 ft. so we were planning on doing 102" with a mahagony rod.

I wasn't planning on keeping the quilt.

Oh, I like the monochromatic one!! But then again, I'm a monochromatic-girl! I just think it is so much more elegant and richer and I love the sheen of it---yummy!!! It's has nice body too---I love the way it drapes... :)

they're both pretty, but wow- I am a taffeta lover. nothing drapes like taffeta! it is the most elegant drape in my humble opinion. I have that same fabric in my bedroom, so maybe I'm biased:-) I love the idea of the tone on tone, and I think you can do anything with the bedspread with that one. You can't lose, they're both gorgeous.

I'm liking the monochromatic one as well, but both are very pretty. Is there any way to hold off ordering until you find the bedding? I know you are anxious, but it is so hard to find things when all the other elements are set. If you can't, I think the monochromatic one will make it easier to find bedding because you'd probably be going for a monochromatic look. With the other stripe I think you'd be looking for bedding with those colors in it. Good luck.

Glad to read that some of you are coming around to my way of thinking. I am a monochromatic kind of gal too. I do think it would be easier to find bedding to match - a cream will go with it. I already have a spread that will match - though it is a comforter which is too heavy - we like the lighter weight quilts. I actually found a bedspread at BBB today that goes with the paint so I know it won't be too hard.

On second look, I am leaning toward the stripe because it makes your woods look rich.

I like the stripe. I would like the solid if it more of a brown...something like one of the browns in the stripe. Maybe even something with more copper?

The solid stripe has bronze in it though it is hard to see. The red on the other stripe is copper. I am just having a hard time with the green in the striped one.

I just pulled out the other bedspread that I have and it goes perfectly with the paint and the taffeta. Like I said before, I don't like the heaviness of the comforter but I can probably rip it apart and take the stuffing out of it and then it will be perfect!!

I think you can have loads of fun tearing the comforter apart and making a spread with it, maybe adding some of the taffeta to the design as an edging. If you have any of the spread fabric left over, you can make a small back pillow for your chair.

Now what do you call the color in your comforter? It looks like a color I use a lot, and I have a hard time describing it. It's brick, burnt apricot, what???

is the stripe red or the same color as your bedding? it might make shams or a pillow for the chair.

Oh, lovely!! Okay, I say you use that comforter for winter, then get yourself a light summer quilt or matelasse. Switch them up.

I'm still a fan of the gold drape.

It's a done deal - in 2 weeks I will have my panels on rings made out of the taffeta - thanks to all who helped me think this through. This was a big expense for me so I wanted to make sure I got it right.

Texas and Decorpas - the comforter is a burgundy red I guess. I am going to try to find a summer quilt - maybe a deep ivory or teal will work for the summer. I do have a lot of the pillows that go with that comforter so I could use them elsewhere.

Next purchase is a new chair so I can get rid of the pink one. My basement is filling up - my kids need to get married and take some of these things off my hands!

I am also deciding what window treatment material to put in the bathroom. The silk supply owner did a template and they will be a custom soft pelmet arch over each window that mirrors the arch already in there between the pillars. I am deciding between a mocha, driftwood, or sand color. Too many decisions but I won't bore you all with that one.
