Look Again! This Might Be the Final!
Comments (27)So, I went to a friend's house, who is not TKO, for lunch today. I showed her these pictures. She's a very logical person. I explained that I thought I liked the glass in the top of those ones to the left of the ovens because I was afraid of darkness there. But I said to her, there will be plenty of recessed lights, ucl, the chandy over the island. I think it's just this drawing makes me think this. So she made me realize that it looks odd not to have the continuity at the top of the glass wrapping around. So kids I made a great decision. It looks like one some of you have suggested too. I apparently was just being blinded by the low cost of glass from this cabinetmaker and was going a little crazy! So, here is what I have decided: All glass on sink wall. No glass on range wall. At the beverage area only the center cabinet will have full glass. The ends will be full solid wood. These end cabinets are the place to put the ugly stuff--mugs, coffee canisters, tea boxes. The center is for the wine glasses, martini glasses, margarita glasses, etc. (might need an extra shelf in there). So there you go. I feel so free and happy to have made this decision. I have made it through the daylight hours and I do not have a headache. This is a very big plus. And when I got the price back for the above design (with those extra glass panels) I was totally shocked! At how low it was! I thought for sure that when I went back to the original plan and added those glass doors, 4 more deep drawers on the island instead of the cabinets that I had to go with due to the prices at KD1, and the rollouts that the price would go way up. Not so much. I am tickled pink. Thank you all for your help, for helping me clear my mind. I think it's just so overwhelming to make so many decisions up front. I'm a "starer". I look to look at the space, and stare and then have an epiphany. This is hard. -bee...See MoreFinally back home again
Comments (15)Thanks for all the good wishes. Home rehab is supposed to start tomorrow. Also some kind of snafu in switching from in house rehab to home, also visiting nurses. Hopefully that gets straightened out tomorrow as my staples are to come out then, and I'm so ready. I feel a little bit better every day. Shirley...See MoreIt's starting to feel like HOME!
Comments (34)Thank you for the very kind comments! I'm glad to be back in my office today, where I can rest from manual labor! Yesterday I hefted boxes until, once again, I was aching down to the bone. DH keeps telling me to just stop and REST. On Saturday evening I crawled into the bed early, and stayed there for about 10 minutes before seeing something out of the corner of my eye that I wanted to accomplish. I am not by any means overly-ambitious when it comes to anything else, except perhaps my home. I know it's a process, but it's one I enjoy (even when it "kills" me physically), and I'm so eager to have it done the way I want it done! I'm going to have a great test of patience before me, however, as we are currently in Spend No Money Unnecessarily mode until our old home sells. There remain a few financial unknowns, and we don't want to make any purchases until that situation is behind us. I can't help but dream of all the things we want in the house, but fully understand that the operative word is "WAIT." Perhaps that's why I'm pushing so hard to get as much in place as possible now. It helps to focus on what I have, instead of what I WANT to have. (If this makes any sense at all!) As you can see, I went ahead and put clutter on top of the kitchen cabinets! Once we got into the house and I realized how limited my display areas are, I decided to make use of what I do have. I'm sure I'll tweak that area over time....See More10th Annual SECRET Santa seed swap
