The icky test tomorrow morning.

Been drinking that nasty Golytly stuff to prepare for tomorrow's colonoscopy.

Yuck, yuck, and double yuck. I haven't had a bite of food since late last night. My blood sugars have gone from 67 to 220...all within an hour and with no food involved. I've had vegetable brooth, apple juice, tea, and jell-o today.

So far this month I've had the dreaded pap smear, the dreaded mammogram, tomorrow is the dreaded colonoscopy. Then I'm getting my eyes checked, my teeth cleaned and checked, and an MRI on my lower right side.

Then, a diabetes blood work-up, tweaking the prescriptions, and then I don't want see a doctor or clinic for the next three months.

I am thankful and grateful I have insurance and can get these tests. I hope they can find the source of the pain I've had, but still, I'm ready to cry Uncle. At least all of the tests will be over before the Purple Martins get here. I do have my priorities.

This should do me for a while.

Caroline, gosh, you've already done so much. Just try to stay calm til you drift off to sleep tomorrow.

I hope they can find your source of pain and can fix it. I'll be thinking of you.

Mongoct & jerzeegirl - thanks for your replies! Mongoct - I was hoping you would write!!! I'm sorry, I should have clarified that no one has ever confirmed for me what exactly is backing the tile. I just assumed it was greenboard based on my limited observation skills and because I thought the use of greenboard only was code compliant. (In my old apartment, the tile contractor used greenboard in the tub surround and swore it complied with code.) Despite my grievances, I actually do not think the current contractors would go so far as to violate code. Operating under this assumption, I would not expect the contractors to do more than to repair the water penetration issue. You all have given me food for thought, though. I will ask the GC on Monday what is backing the tile. If they are violating code, I certainly will make them replace our shower! Other than that, I'm guessing from your post the repair was already completed? Did they dig out the mud along the entire length of the shower (along the glass door and along the fixed glass panel) and repair the membrane to completely isolate the shower mud and thinset from the bathroom floor mud and thinset? Mongo - the work is not done. The mudbed was still damp today so we are running a fan all weekend and hopefully, the tile workers will be able to do the waterproof job on Monday. They have digged out the mud under the saddle the full length of the shower. Their plan is to paint the waterproof mastic vertically on the mud that is on either side of the saddle. I am going to ask them to use the mastic on the perpendicular sides (i.e., the walls) as well, although they may already be planning to do this. I really hope this works...

Thanks to my KT friends who posted their support and "smart thoughts" (Stacy, I loved that phrase!) The test was brutal, but it's over. I won't know if I passed for another month or so. I'm trying not to think about it, because I'm determined not to start studying again unless/until I find out I really have to. Thanks again to all of you!! Hugs, SadieSadie

Thank you, all. It was a long day, my brain is tired. I felt really great about one test, and sort of OK about the other. An older friend whose wisdom I appreciate (she talks to me like a mom would) told me to pack a healthy lunch with foods I like. I took her advice, and it really did help between tests. Especially since it made me think of her support in the middle of the day. ;o) I have to wait a month for the results. I'm gonna grow a few more gray hairs in the mean time.

Golytly doesn't seem to fit the situation does it?
I really hate that stuff. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. yuck, yuck , yuck!!! I do agree. It reminds me of drinking sea water.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I have my pap and my mammogram tomorrow. A great way to start spring break!

My baby sister, in her mid 30s, has to have a colonscopy on Friday because she's been having such tummy troubles. She has lost much too much weight.

I hope all goes well for you tomorrow!

I'm interested to know how it went too. I'm getting ready to drink my bottle of golytly. My test is tomorrow. I'm having an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. I just hope they don't use the same tube!

Intherain, I hope you come back to this tread. Tell you sister to insist on an endoscopy as well as a colonoscopy (they may do them at different times). A lot of doctors are reluctant to recommend endoscopies (it is a tube down the throat and into the stomach), because serious stomach problems are pretty rare; however, they are VERY VERY serious.

I should know, I was diagnosed with gastric cancer at 41. It has a very low cure rate because most people get treated for acid reflux (and to be fair the vast majority of people have acid reflux) and by the time it is caught it is usually too far along to treat. I got lucky and got sent for an endoscopy right away, but even the future is unsure.

When I was reading this "Purple Martins" I was skimming rather quickly and read it as "Purple Martinis!"

All I could think was sounds good to me! Maybe you should try one? :)

Thanks, folks.

They removed one polyp; the doctor said it "looked good" but I'll get the report in a week or so.

No other problems found.

Glad things went well for you. I too in the past months have had the pap test, the mammogram, the follow up mammogram and then the follow up to that ultra sound! It didn't show anything. Have it repeated in 6 months! Also had the echo cardio gram in between all of that. Have had the other tests you had the colonoscopy and the endoscopy for not for a few years. There are worse things to go through. Never look forward to any of that stuff.
